New Attack Made On Classified Tax in Ohio

A hostile suit filed in the Second District Court of Appeals challenges Ohio’s new classified tax law. The Neulh city school board sues James Z. Curlett, the county auditor, claiming a $0,010.42 deficit in the interest and sinking fund for bond retirement. The petition argues bonds issued in 1919 and 1920 created contracts requiring a tax on all taxable district property to meet obligations. It contends the new law’s tax exemptions, including personal property, render revenues insufficient to replace the lost income.
