Oxford Merchants Seek Lower Village Electric Rates

Unusually large turnout at the Oxford Merchants Association meeting at Oxford National Bank focused on reducing electric light and power rates for the village. A committee of A Steane, W Umstead and Kenneth M White will present petitions to the council and seek a conference with Union Gas and Electric Company representatives here. The group also agreed to aid winter charity work with Federation of Clubs' charity committees, chaired by Sloane, and includes John McFatl, Wert Keller and I J Wright.

Oxford Notices Warn Against Trespass on Farm Lands

Stewart High Announces Basketball Practice and Schedule

The hunting season opens Tuesday with a five-bird daily limit, and local farmers restrict hunts on private lands.

New Low Levels For Wheat

In Columbus Ohio on November 11 the week saw wheat prices fall to new lows worldwide. M R Maney head of the Ohio Farm Bureau grain dept notes Chicago prices firmed slightly after the low point last week. Cash wheat tracks futures, but high premia keep Ohio cash prices near harvest lows with few offerings. Farmer prices for corn in Ohio are about 20 cents per bushel.

Cleveland's Ace Pedestrian Makes 20 Mile Round Trips

Lawrence Krehier, an 87 year old in Cleveland, is described as the city's ace pedestrian. He walks from his home to downtown, a 20 mile round trip, three and four times weekly, and each evening takes a three to four mile stroll.

Protected Circle to Confer Degree at Montgomery and Middletown

Hamilton Circle 185 of the Protested Homa Circle met at Odd Fellows hall Main and B streets. Plans outline degree teams visiting Dayton Montgomery circle November 20 and Middletown November 28 to perform initiatory work. An initiation and dance is planned November 17 at Main and K streets with PHCL orchestra.

Hawaii's Air Force Enlarged by New Bombardment Squads

Honolulu reports under a five year program begun in 1927 Hawaii's air force will be enlarged with two bombardment groups, two pursuit squadrons, and 26 aviation fields. Colonel G C Brant of the army air corps says the expanded force will be sufficient for any emergency as Hawaii receives these additions.
