Senior final exams begin Monday at 8 00 with physiology leading. Lower classes start Friday May 31 with English first. Alumni to hold annual affair in Taglys temple June 12. Senior picnic planned at Oliver Reiser farm on Mt Pleasant pike around June 7. Sophomore picnic at Margaret Betz home on May 29.
The junior class elected Roger Rothwell as editor and Thomas Phillips as business manager. Mrs West’s complaint notes her husband was crested for into Friday, details unclear.
At Friday evening meeting the council discussed a plan to build and maintain a municipal ice plant in Walton. A committee was formed to draft legislative details for council approval. The session also debated memorial day participation by socialist members, with strong opposition cited by veterans and local officials. Other items included a 2 dollar dog license, a firemen disability fund, streetcar franchises, and health board appointments.
May this district observes annual Thanksgiving services of the Colored Odd Fellows with a large turnout. Lockland Hamilton and Oxford held services on the first Sunday morning, while Sedulig Lodge 2786 GO O and Household of Ruth 1187 organized the city event at Payne A M E B Church on Sey Spanish avenue. A large congregation attended both morning ceremonies and the afternoon program began at 1 PM led by Rev J D Liu as organist.
A large parade featured full regalia and juveniles from Oxford and Lockland with visiting Indies. Mrs Kate Hogan presided at the organ as crowds filled the hall. Noble Grand Billig Jr opened events, with sermons by Rev W A Watson and discourses by James Hunter and Mrs Dora Jutler. The day concluded with prayers, anthems, and a procession to Sedalia lodge. Next Sunday’s thanksgiving in Oxford announced.
Daniel A Poling secretary for the Ohio Christian Endeavor Mission plans a county tour with events Friday night in New Wagen Saturday night in Millville Sunday afternoon in Collinsville and Monday night in Middletown. Large crowds expected as Poling is known for strong turnout.
