A garbled weather fragment recalls a heavy downpour and a city’s postponed plans in April. It mentions Ax Bouthurn Ohio and Willston, noting May was expected as a finale but was affected by the recent shower and poor revival.
Beautiful Company presents a grand military tableau at the Grand Theater this week. The production features Dr. O. SL A. BM and the Second Regiment in a lifelike adaptation of Her Sweet Susren, inspired by New York Hippodrome staging. The show runs Tuesday Wednesday and Friday evenings with strong military pageantry.
The twelfth annual convention of the Ohio State Federation of Catholic societies was held in Columbus on May 6. Officers present included President John Price and first vice president T O Malley with other officers and delegates named for the national convention in Louisville.
Phoebe A Page daughter of Benjamin and Baral Ann Page was born Sept. 6 1543 and died last Wednesday at age 69. She married Samu A Phares Aug. 15 1878. he died Feb. 11 1908. She spent most of her life in the birth neighborhood and is survived by Grace Phares Ana Moftman a sister three brothers and many friends and relatives.
At a Sunday afternoon meeting of the Brotherhood of St John’s the bond issue for a new high school was endorsed. Members urged co operatives to vote for the issue and persuade friends. Dr B A R Torsch of Louisville, president of the Affiliated Brotherhoods of the Tocuchatta district spoke, praising the project as needed.
The Reading board of education will choose a successor to the late P O Getter at its June meeting. In the suit of J. We. Poting against C. C. Ununel the defendant filed no answer. Attorneys Baker and Faker state Poting did not perform the contracted work and seek $402a3. On cross petition damages claim arising from being forced to seek other help to complete instruction of a house Poling contracted to build.
The Elks opened their new club rooms in the Campbell home at South Maurth and Ludlow streets Sunday. The plush interior features a reception room, leather chairs, and a second floor with parlors and writing rooms while strict access rules limit entry to members within a defined district. Flowers were sent by many society members, and the lodge will limit Tuesday openings during lodge meetings.
At the library meeting trustees Nelson Williams and Rev. C F Allwardt discussed new government roles. Clayton A Lester and David Pierce presented lental files for the library and its employees. The rules will be adopted at the next meeting.
