George C Manns lifelong Oxford resident and founder and vice president of the Oxford National Bank died at his West Church street home at 6 am aged 87 after weeks of illness. He helped launch the bank in Butter county, led livery grocery and lumber ventures, and held substantial real estate holdings. A Republican and active in fraternal orders, he left a lasting mark on Oxford’s business and public life. Funeral plans were to be announced.

In Oxford Ohio on June 13 the Miami University eighty second commencement fills Fair Haven with graduates and alumni. J Merle Rife was ordained to the ministry and installed as pastor of Fair Haven United Presbyterian Church with Rev Jamieson assisting. Alumni day featured processions, speeches by Poss McClure and Greer, and the alumni banquet. The varsity baseball game against alumni ended 13 to 8 in favor of the alumni.
