The Wednesday rain proved a godsend to farmers in the Miam valley after a dry spell of about ten days. It followed a period of considerable summer rainfall but drought conditions had threatened crop prospects.

Meanwhile the city council faces bond issuance concerns as total bonds exceed the allowable limit based on property tax figures. Auditor Gibbins cites real estate value growth potentially pushing past the limit.
A severe storm yesterday struck Lockland as a bolt destroyed the Williams grocery and market at 680 Maple Street. The blast knocked down posts and walls, injuring none seriously, with losses estimated from 5000 to 6000 dollars, partly insured. A second lightning strike set fire to an old barn on the Fielding farm north of town shortly after.
In a brief nuptial notice, Harvey Goleman and Clovenia Simpson receive license to wed. The announcement lists Hamilton as the location and Squire W. TH. Morton as officiant or local authority involved.

J W Stonekey seeks a two story frame addition at 19 North Gevedt with an estimated cost of 25 dollars.
