Reports from January 18 describe hundreds of women fighting police during a street demonstration in New York at the outset of a world strike. A policeman attempting to guard a protestor was struck, and several arrests followed as chaos enveloped the Carmarg? and surrounding districts.
In Philadelphia on Jun 16 a dining group hosted by a Washington guest trio discussed political topics. The speaker urged Democrats to honor November’s verdict, warned against radicalism, and urged unity to support the administration and future prosperity.
Postmaster Warren C. Hursh of the local office resigns to Washington as parcels post increases boost business. Hursh states the extra work became too much after days of heavy bag handling and he is no longer fit for the job. Secretay of the Interior Fisher faced charges of pressuring Osage Indians to release oil fields to Uncle Sam Oil Co while countersuits allege Standard Oil sought to block the Uncle Sam Co move. Attorney General Wickersham wired testimony as tribal councils were questioned. Leases to Uncle Sam were sent back for review and a mandamus sought to reinstate them. Union claims of Standard Oil opposition continued. Separately New York garment workers won wage increases and shorter work weeks after a large strike affecting about 37,000 workers across 160,000 involved.

Youngstown Jan 18 The entire family of Peter Dominia is under arrest in connection with last night's murder. Mike Turno a stone cutter aged forty was found dead with two bullet wounds to the head. His revolver was found in a closet. No motive is known.

Foulke E Brandt, once linked to a thirty year prison term for burglary, is released after Governor Sulzer commuted his sentence. The pardon followed campaigns by Senator Nelson and others, who criticized the prior judgment as excessive. Brandt pledges reform and begins a new life in Minnesota.
Washington reports Jerome J. Greene says Congress on Monday will be asked to incorporate the Rockefeller foundation a $100000000 entity endowment hoped by John D Rockefeller. Special To Tue Journal. Dayton, C., Jam. 18. Clerk Ralph A. Argabright, accused of embezzling funds in 1912, faces two counts from the January grand jury. He denied the charges, claiming the matter would be set aside. State Examiner Heuk was the principal witness in the investigation.
In Marquette on January 18 Geo Hewitt pleaded in the exait court to a civit suit for damages of 10,900 filed by Theodore Roosevelt. The libel claims are denied as true and the defense argues the publication was privileged due to Roosevelt seeking office at the time.
Teavenworth Kansas summary reports Chas Heam of Minneapolis released on bond after a three year sentence for conspiracy in a dynamite case. He is the first of thirty three prisoners to gain freedom under bone. Baum released under FO 100 bond. He said other imprisoned labor lenders were confident of their retention.
Nogara, Colombia and Panama clash over a long dispute. A Colombian minister returning from Washington was greeted warmly and reported that indicators point to a frigate settlement of the Panama dispute. Officials emphasize progress toward resolution.
