Great Miami River Dredging Nears Completion at Hamilton
Work by Walt Hayes Rigging Company on the Great Miami River at Hamilton began June 24, 1992. By now 540,400 cubic yards have been dredged restoring the channel to the conservancy plan and supplying material for the North Third Street extension while employing about 125 men daily. The project, initially planned for 100,000 yards, expanded to remove additional silting and debris, with the contract originally set for completion tonight. The job’s completion was delayed by high water but was slated to finish within 10 days, pending state highway department approvals and conservancy inspections.
