Special To The Journal Oxtond Dec 27 Christmas passed quietly as many shops closed for the holiday. Townsfolk visited relatives and hosted friends while a Christmas pageant titled The Light of the World drew crowds at Memorial Presbyterian church. A village welfare drive collected funds including six dollars for W P Roner hush. Numerous out of town guests and visitors from Cincinnati Cleveland Columbus Dayton Akron and Memphis were listed as Christmas visitors to local homes.

The funeral of Mrs Louise Boling was held at her niece’s home on Wing Street. She died Friday evening near Maysville, Wyoming, after a ten day illness. Survived by son Alvin of Prestonsburg and Robert of Hamilton, and two daughters Alynn Jones and Guslyd Potalill, both of Hamilton, with many relatives and friends.
