Cartagenians beat the Corinthians 20 to 4 as USOMG directors plan tonight to review monthly reports and transfer business.
Fractured report describes a broken hydrant and runaway hose wagon from the Sixth district causing a collision near Pleasant and Weller avenues. Water surged into a home at 1082 Mount Pleasant, flooding rooms and frightening Mrs. Moore and her daughter while a waterworks crew shut off the stream. A zoo note follows about Philadelphia’s hippo Katrina seeking a young female goat companion after arriving from Hamburg.
Dayton lodge No. 59 Be 10 Buks extends to Humiston lodge No. 95 an invitation to travel to Columbus for James M. Cox’s inauguration. Cox, a Butler county native and Dayton lodge member, is expected to be escorted to the state house by The Elks. The action will be discussed at Hamilton lodge Tuesday night.
The trial of Istney Seward for the murder of stepson John Boyle progressed before Judge Murphy on Friday with indications the case might go to the jury about Boyle’s suicide. If not possible Saturday, adjournment to Monday was planned with defense facing questions over Seward’s role in the gun discharge and Boyle’s dying statement. Witnesses for the state testified to Boyle’s claim that Seward shot him, while Seward denied the charge in the witnesses’ presence. Attorneys for the state sought to keep the matter before the court as Judge Murphy prepared to rule late today.
