Colonel W. Sparks of Dayton was elected brigadier general of the First and Second regiments United American Mechanics at the encampment opening under tense dress parade and a reception. Cincinnati’s Colonel Bauer will preside as mayor of the event while officials including J J Weitzel and Edwin Brown attended. The program featured a Minstrels show and parade marking the first day of the week long camp.

Couple elopes from Ohio home to wed in Covington

A 72 year old patient at the Ohio Miagenie Home and an 86 year old nurse from Lome hospital eloped to Covington Kentucky and were married. Dr Stevens, once a prominent physician in German town, faced hospitalization after an assault in August. The bride Miss Folek had resigned weeks earlier. Widowed Mothers Benefit Plan Hinted in State Reforms

Firemen Responded to Wrong Church Fire Blamed on Mistake

Monday afternoon the Ones Twos and Chrees were sent to United Presbyterian Church where painters in the attic started a fire with rubbish. No damage occurred after the wall was cleared and the blaze was found. The caller claimed the resident lived at First Presbyterian Church, noting the mistake by the firemen.

Bonds Sold At County Commissioners Meeting

At a county commissioners meeting bids for the 50 ace court house bond issue were canvassed. Nacional Bank of Columbus offered $519 per hundred with accrued interest as the best bid. A resolution was passed selling bonds to this bank and the contract will be signed once booking authorities arrive. Funds are provided for the reuilling of the court house and work will begin soon.

CHAMPION VALUATION HEARD BEFORE BOARD OF REVIEW

The board of review and County Auditor heard testimony from Champion Couted Payor Co. Secretary and M M Goodwun regarding valuation of the big antill. This year’s return was not equal to last year’s as determined by the board. Great raging at the Montgomery County Fair is noted with plans for September 2 and 3. Labor Day events, third rank conferment, and a dinner are outlined for the Montgomery group. The Ode Fellows club setup and banquet are mentioned along with a speed program and talks by members.
