Bauer Jury Fails To Reach Verdict In Embezzlement Case

Springfield Ohio September 25 The jury in the embezzlement case of Chas C Bauer former city auditor failed to reach a verdict and was discharged after a dramatic session. Prosecutor McGrew urged a guilty finding while Zimmerman defended Bauer highlighting the defendant's youth and family. The courtroom packed with society women and spectators heard testimonies on the 307 12 shortage with the jury reportedly split eight for acquittal and four for conviction.

Mrs Elizabeth Hileman Died After Childbirth At 36

Mrs Elizabeth Beeler Hileman wife of George W. Hileman died at her home in Fairplay Ohio on Wednesday morning at 1 50 from childbirth. She was 36 years 11 months old and left seven children. Death of Mrs. Martha Chapins Found at Home

Found dead in bed at four in the morning the aged Mrs. Martha Chapins who lived with her daughter Mrs. Edwin Mendenhall died from heart disease. Coroner Schumaker of Hamilton was notified viewed the remains and will hold an inquest.

The Ohio state board of equalization for rail roads finished appraising interurban lines, setting the year's total valuation at 12 685 796 dollars, up from 11 648 041, an increase of 1 021 755. The Atlanta governing body excommunicates twenty Primitive Baptist churches in Georgia for installing pipe organs. The ban affects about 6,000 members in prosperous congregations, saying organs are acts of the devil and that true Christians cannot fellowship with them.
