Middletown constable Yerigan notified twenty five saloonists to appear before Squire Warwick at verpeck to answer charges of keeping saloons open last Sunday. Five saloonists left to appear. no warrants issued yet. Newport meeting notes emphasize teacher independence and self-reliance.
Odell and Marsh of St. Clair township arrest nearly all Hamilton High street saloonkeepers for keeping open last Sunday. About twenty five to thirty appeared before Squire L L Warwick and posted $50 bonds for release. More saloonkeepers from Middletown and Trenton may face similar action.
Marvel Davis of Marietta files suit against Dr E Sloan claiming 25000 in damages. Davis alleges a past operation on his daughter Tessie two years ago left a sponge, with a second operation at Columbus hospital revealing it. Tessie Davis had recently divorced J M Loffland. Trial expected to be sensational.
Lebanon Nov 23 County Auditor Stilwell announces his bid for state auditor subject to the Republican state convention in 1908. A Warren county native educated at Lebanon university he spent 12 years as Waynesville public schools superintendent and has endorsements from ex-congressman Seth W. Brown ex-Speaker Alex Boxwell and Warren county central and executive committee members.
Bellefontaine Ohio November 23. Because money is tight residents in Zanesfield are using eggs as currency and local shops are taking hen fruit in place of cash.
In Sewelsville near Cambridge Ohio an eight year old girl Carrie Reynolds was grabbed by a stranger who ran with her into a corn field. Her dog defended her by biting the assailant, who fled. A suspect was captured later but lynching fears delayed proceedings amid a heavy village guard.
The thirty sixth international Y M C A convention in Washington opened with Rev. Floyd W. Tompkins urging universal prayer for one person to Christianize the world. Frances Tuttle Howe widow of Henry Howe famed for Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio died at her son's home in Columbus at age 187. Born in New Haven she moved to Ohio in 1847 and lived in Cincinnati where the first volume was written. She had resided in Columbus since 1888.
Elizabeth D. Lewis of Chelsea was sentenced to fourteen days in Charles street jail for contempt of court after failing to pay alimony to husband Charles D. Lewis. He had sued last year, deeded his property valued around $6,000 to her, and ordered $20 down and $5 weekly. he now lives in Cincinnati and says she owes $80.
The Chip Wie and Spirits association directors approved a resolution praising brewers for taking a stand to eradicate disorderly houses. The group, consisting of distillers and wholesale liquor dealers, has long supported actions to improve conditions in the local trade.
Federal Judge Keller fined David Rowell a thousand dollars and costs for conspiring to hold persons in peonage. Proceedings against Superintendent Collins and General Manager Houston were dismissed after Howell confessed under stipulation. The judge said government evidence was very weak.

The funeral of Edward N. Moore was held yesterday afternoon from his home at 1049 Vine Street. The Wetzel- Compton Post G. A. R. attended the services at the cemetery and numerous floral offerings were sent by friends. Rev. J. H. Moorehead conducted the services.
Hamburg reports a quake detected at 9 15 Friday morning by the seismological station. The tremor lasted about two hours and appeared to originate about 5400 miles away.
Pierpont Morgan met with President Roosevelt at the White House for about ninety minutes. Afterward Morgan said the financial situation was progressing very satisfactorily.

Mrs Margaret Deters in St Louis tied her five children with ropes and leaped from Keystone Bridge with two infants in her arms. A police officer rescued the children as her mental troubles are cited as the cause.
Three former workers at the Herring Hall Marvin Co confronted the foreman at the factory office demanding wages. They allegedly struck at Martin Mueller and were arrested. Leo Schmitt John Smith and Joseph Sebutte posted bonds and were released for Mayor Thomas's hearing.
Mildred Fern Bridge infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Louis Bridge of 306 Elm Avenue Lindenwald died at 7 30 Saturday morning from pneumonia at age 1 year 5 months 1 day. Funeral Monday at 1 30 from the home with burial in Greenwood cemetery.

L N Randolph of Miamisburg Ohio was found dead Friday near the Big Four track close to his home. Officials believe he was walking home along the rails when struck by a passing train. Squire Hughes supervised the remains and handed them to undertaker A R Stocker. He is survived by a wife and an elder.
