The Sidney circuit court denied Frank A. Earl’s motion to set aside the common pleas verdict. Judges Wilson Sullivan and Dustin ruled the grounds for a new trial insufficient and that the guilty verdict was supported by the evidence. Earl’s lawyers will appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court.
Fast passenger train No. 3 on the Queen and Crescent collided head on with a freight train one mile south of Morganville, Ga., on Sunday morning. Two men were killed, six seriously injured, and about twenty passengers suffered injuries.
President Roosevelt granted Roebling a post office status citing a surge of births in the town. A White House delegation reported that nine-tenths of the 300 families have welcomed children since Roebling began as a manufacturing center two years ago. A. L. In Columbiana Ohio on November 4 two large rallies closed the main campaign with Democrats in a nonpartisan gathering at Memorial Hall and Republicans at the Board of Trade Auditorium. The Democratic crowd exceeded 7000 with about half supporting Judge Thomas J Duncan while University of Ohio President William Oxley Thompson presided. Notable speakers included Governor Joseph Folk and Governor J Frank Hanley with remarks by Campbell Campbell and Judge Dunnean. The Republican event was far smaller, led by Congressman E L Taylor Jr. with workers in attendance.

Twelve young women, some former teachers, will begin Monday night handling seating, wearing uniforms and clearly visible in the aisles under the guidance of Mr Hammerstein and Kip Arthur.
Dayton grand jury reports a major indictment against Layton Marion alias Layton Hines for first degree murder. Marion, a colored man, had confessed to the killings of Anna Markowitz and Abe Cohan, with witnesses supporting the confession after a weeklong investigation. He reportedly sought clemency in exchange for his confession.
Gustavus A. Wegelarb, lessee and manager of the Grand opera house and president of the firm building the William Penn theater in Philadelphia, attempted suicide at his home on Sunday. Report says business worries weighed heavily on him. the Wegelards moved to Philadelphia from Cincinnati years ago.
A man believed to be Jesse Cole wanted in Indianapolis for killing Policeman Compton two years ago was arrested in Oklahoma City by Officer James Etheridge. In a confrontation during the arrest Cole resisted, drew a revolver and fired at Etheridge while fleeing along the Santa Fe rail. Etheridge returned fire but could not stop him.
