Mrs J Hawkins learns her son Bill is on his way home from Malaya as a prisoner of war. Mr and Mrs Little are told their son Doug died in a Japanese camp in 1943. Servicemen on leave include LAC G Schumann Ted Smith Shirley Cox and Myers. Ras, brother of a returning serviceman, fought in D-Day Australian unit. POWs returning include C Livermore Moran and Scott. Mr Brown left for a holiday in Sydney and Melbourne. The Roberts family plan a visit with Mr and Mrs J Symes of Sapphire Street Tingha.

Welcome Home P O W Victim Victor Dawson Remembered in Tingha
A large crowd greeted returning P O W and servicemen in Tingha. A musical programme featured speakers K Duncan D O Halloran B Davis Barbour. Victor Dawson son of A Dawson of The Grove Tingha was fatally injured at Belmore Sydney when a glider test crash occurred. He was a Salvation Army member and leaves a wife and nine month old daughter. Service was held at the Salvation Army Hall and cemetery with Adj Dawson Captain Elsie Foley present. Floral tributes came from the Glider Club and Tingha Red Cross.

A recent strong frost damaged gardens and possibly potato crops while peas may be affected. Wind has dried pastures, rain is needed, and shipments of peas are expected to leave Guyra within three weeks amid 89 points of total monthly rainfall.
