Hyrum Lorenzo Wilson of Gunnison died at his home Monday evening at age 82 after years of ill health He was born October 14 1852 in Northumberland England and came with parents Charles and Mary Wilson to America The family lived in Springville and Goshen before settling in Gunnison The obituary notes his long residence and family history with early hand cart pioneers with the cross county migration continued on last page

Panguitch Hosts Associated Civic Clubs Meeting

Panguitch Lions club hosts the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah gathering in Panguitch June 29 and 30. Lions Convention Elects Utah District Governor

Cantril Nielson of Hyrum Utah was elected Utah district governor at the Richfield Lions district convention. He defeated N B Winters of Payson 49 to 46 to succeed J W Thornton. L Sumner Pond of Grace Idaho was elected Idaho district governor, with no opposition.

Scientific Group To Visit Canyons

A summer expedition led by Dr. Lawrence M. Gould from Carleton College will tour Yellowstone National Park the Grand Canyon Kaibab Bryce Canyon Cedar Breaks and West Wyoming sites. The trip runs July 20 to August 1 with night stops at West Yellowstone Jackson Old Faithful Grand Canyon and Logan then south to Bryce Canyon Cedar Breaks.
