Has Passed to Her Reward Pioneer Lady of Clarksburg
Mrs. Malissa Burns, a well known pioneer lady from Clarksburg, died Thursday night after a long illness. Born in Kentucky in 1831, she came to the county as a child and lived with her son James at her death. She leaves two sons James and Alexander, two nephews Edgar and Livey Hamilton, and a niece Mrs. J. T. Meek. Funeral held Sunday at 2 PM at the Presbyterian church with Rev. W. F. Scoular officiating. burial at Spring Hill cemetery.

Valuable Farm Residence Destroyed by Fire
On Saturday afternoon the elegant farm residence of Silas Demaree, two miles south of Kingston, was totally destroyed by fire with most contents. The two story frame house, built about a year ago, valued at two thousand dollars, was occupied by Mr and Mrs Benjamin Erman who were in town when the blaze started. Neighbors saw smoke and flames but could not save the home or goods. The structure was insured for one thousand dollars in Patrons of Husbandry.

Electrocution on S. & C. tower car near St Paul claims Hirah Sexton
Hirah Sexton, 56, of Rushville, a crew member on S. & C. traction, was electrocuted Friday morning while repairing a broken insulator on a tower car near St Paul. A stray touch completed a live circuit. fellow worker Earl Brown watched as Sexton died. Coroner ordered burial in Rushville after arrival at Shelbyville. Sexton left a widow and one child and was a Red Man and Eagle member.
