The Marble Rock American Legion Auxiliary met in the Town Hall with Mrs. Galen Gates hosting. Pearl Knoop led the business session and a poppies order for Poppy Day next May was approved. Fifteen members paid 1970 dues. dues are due by October 20.
The 4-H Union Feeders Club met September 8 at Gary Staudt's home with president Mike Ewald presiding. Plans for the September 18 parade in Charles City were discussed and minutes read by Gary Staudt were approved. Lunch was served by Mrs. Staudt.
The Marble Rock Study Club held its first meeting of the year with a group of 20 traveling to Charles City to attend Marian's Fabric Shop Style Show at the High School. Afterward the group gathered at Club Iowa for a dessert luncheon and a business meeting led by President Mrs. Mary Barr.
The Standard Oil station in Marble Rock opened Monday morning under new managers Arlin Frizzell and Dean Tynan of Charles City. It will operate as the T and F Standard Station.
Mrs Harold Ott and Mrs Roger Reinhart hosted the Natalla Club on a Wednesday afternoon at the Ott home. Mrs Anna Thieman and Mrs Arnold Litterer led the program. After the program the group visited, and lunch was served by the hostesses at the close.
Mrs Frank Hall hosted the Contract Bridge Club at her home on Wednesday evening after a seven o'clock dessert luncheon. High honors went to Mrs Leon Marsh with second to Mrs Jim Stone at the bridge tables.
At the 4-H County Convention and Fair Exhibit Recognition held August 25 at Floyd County Fair Grounds, Union Busy Bees members were present. Awards went to Jane Dolan Vicki Rex and Diane Carney in Home Improvement with Dolan also honored in Foods. Jill Handley and Donna Carney won top junior presentation. Nancy Kolber earned senior showmanship in Dairy Cattle. Debbie Staudt reported.
Marble Rock locals Mr. and Mrs. Jim McNeilus visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Drake in Greene. Rev. A Van Benschoten led funeral services for Miss Lewtie Krieger at First Baptist Church Plainfield as she continued her studies there. Marlys Staudt enrolled at Mount Mercy College Cedar Rapids. Pearl Knoop and aunt Mrs Leonard Knoop of Rockford visited Vernon Knoop cottage Ventura Heights Clear Lake from Tuesday afternoon to Saturday morning.
