Butler County Heart Fund Names 1974 Chairwoman
Mrs Cleve Wilson Allison was named 1974 Butler County Heart Fund Chairman by Dr D M Everson president of the Butler County Heart Association. The Feb campaign covers the county and nation with prior local programs including CPR training for high school students and a Heart Sound Screening using a mini computer for third graders. In two years 491 third graders were tested. Key leadership for the 1974 campaign will be announced in coming months.

Funeral for Willard Allan Held at Methodist Church
Donald Allan attends funeral services for his brother Willard Allan held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Waverly. Burial followed in Shell Rock Cemetery after Willard died Monday night in Waverly Hospital after a 15 day stay.

Butler County Tax Valuations Increase in 1974
The Iowa Department of Revenue notified Butler County that the tentative valuation increase would stand with no change, boosting residential property values by about 6.1 million dollars countywide. Butler County Assessor protested to reduce the percentage rise as officials move to equalize valuations. changes affect 91 of 99 counties and take effect January 1, 1974 for 1975 taxes, with residents receiving new Real Estate Assessments.

At the October 8 Greene Community School Board meeting, a policy restricting students to no more than five subjects per semester was adopted effective immediately. Four subjects must be taken at Greene Center with at least one additional via approved method if not offered at Greene, with exceptions only by parent, counselor, teacher, and principal approval. final decision rests with the principal.

Five local 4-H girls won blue ribbons at the National Dairy Cattle Congress in Waterloo on Sept 29 for intermediate educational presentations on dips and meals.
