Christmas Shopping Season Begins in Greene

Greene commercial club kicks off the holiday season with drawings worth over 2400 in cash and merchandise. Weekly and daily prizes include turkeys, CB radios, TV games, and store merchandise. registration begins at member stores with tickets from Sneed Insurance. Drawings set for Saturdays December 4 11 and 18 at 3 30 pm in front of Tom's Stereo.

Night Classes Offerings at Local High School

The High School plans a February microwave oven cooking course for one night if sufficient interest exists, cost under $2.00, contact the principal at 823-5631. January sewing with Shirley Van Eschen. February upholstery with Lois McBurney, 2 to 3 hours nightly. More courses welcome with 10 or more interested and an instructor.

Red Cross drive in Butler County totals near goal

Hawkeye Chapter American Red Cross reports $3686.42 raised in Butler County from the fall funds drive led by co chairs Judy Hall and Lois McBurney. Eight towns and townships were not included. total near $5000 goal with more figures to be compiled for the Town of the Year walnut plaque.

The Cub Scout Pack meeting on November 17 at the Greene Community Center was presided over by Cubmaster Gary Ottler. Bear Den 3 led the flag ceremony. Esther Backer’s Bear Den I presented an action program with audience participation. Webelos Den I served refreshments. several awards and badges were announced across Bear Den I and Bear Den III, with Craftsmanship and various Denner cords awarded to named scouts.

Rites Held for Albert Allen in Marble Rock

Funeral services for Albert Maurice Allen 75 of Marble Rock were held at St Pauls Lutheran Church with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Rev. William Granger officiated and Reid's Funeral Chapel handled arrangements. Born September 4 1901 in Floyd County he died November 16 at home. Survived by wife Faith a daughter Joan Bonie two sons John and Charles six grandchildren and two brothers George and Ray.
