The Butler County Iowa Board of Supervisors met on a July Sunday in 2000 to file and consider the county budget estimate. A hearing was fixed for July 25 at 10:00 A.M. at the Courthouse with publication of notice required by law. The Attorney General filed an anti trust suit in Minnesota against major rock salt producers and distributors, noting Butler County purchased salt from several defendants.
Butler County Board of Supervisors authorized payment of numerous claims from the poor fund and other departments. Items include reimbursements to state and federal tax authorities, social security and retirement contributions, medical care and nursing home costs, provisions and equipment for numerous local suppliers, and per diem for officials. The list names many individuals, firms, and institutions across county operations.
