Debra Jensen wins the RAVE district contest with Rowen taking first in the RAVE competition. Worth County and Des Moines entries were noted as runners up as veterans receive nine monetary awards at the annual event in Des Moines.
Three Greene High School students joined Jem Ganaht on KWWL TV Community Quiz on Sunday, facing three contestants from Mr Vernon High School. Team members included Tim O'Brien representing Greene's National Honor Society, with accompanying notes on family connections.
Greene students Diane Miller intramural committee and Kerry Grumley food committee member join Milo Muhlenbrock and Lawrence Stanek among 60 Greene High School business teachers at NIACC sponsored dinner and seminar on November 4. Seminar speakers Kay Wilshusen and Dorothy Pratt presented What Personnel Managers Expect from Beginning Office Workers.
The Butler County Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Parker Schmitz of Allison to serve as Butler County Auditor beginning January 1 1975 to complete the unexpired term of retiring Auditor Vernon O Larsen.
Blanket Sunday was held at St Peter's Lutheran Church on November 10 with blankets collected to aid global relief through Lutheran World Relief. Parishioners were invited to contribute by November 17, with wool blankets available from Church World Service for $3.00. The ALCW sponsored the drive, and this year 60 quilts were produced in two sewing days, funding 19 blankets from CWS.

Friday services for George J. Popes 69 who died Tuesday at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City were held at St Michael Catholic Church Nashua with burial in Roseville Cemetery Survivors include his wife three sons Robert Plainfield John Charles City and Raymond Nashua one daughter Mrs Shirley Logan Rochester Minnesota and one brother Carl of Nashua
The Brinkman family plans a Family Night at St Peters Lutheran Church at 9 30 pm to recount a recent goodwill tour. They will show slides from visits to Australia and New Zealand and display related items.
Voigts Suc Vorgts Mien Memorial Waterloo notes Melvin Barth was dismissed from Memorial Hospital after serving as a surgeon there for one week. The report records a short clinical tenure and release from active duty.
Greene leads and directs the North Central Heatinngs band while Bear Glaspie helps with the group. The Towa Jazz Ensemble and South Iowa Jazz Ensemble are invited to perform, providing new rhythm sections for high school groups. S Mark Stephenson Tower is among Greene’s Greene band members. Jeff was recently named director of the band.

Marjorie Springer of 11th St Chautauqua Guest Home will celebrate her 101st birthday on Wednesday November 13. Her sister Mrs Lizzie Fox of 20 Chatauqua Ave was 94 on Sunday November 10. Mrs Roy Henline hosted a birthday cake for the occasion. Mel Gano of Sanborn says a parsnip from his garden measured 42 inches, noting dry conditions drove roots deep for moisture. Postal Service reaffirms unpaid delivery policy. postmaster notes mail without postage after November 17 will be returned or sent to the dead letter office with a possible small fee if sender cannot be found.
Rov Henline received word of the sudden death of her brother Ike Gruss of Eureka. The Henlines left Saturday to attend funeral services held there Monday.
Services for Lydia F Kepple 84 who died at St James Hospital Chicago were held at Chenoweth Son Funeral Home Nashua with burial Greenwood Cemetery. Survived by two sons Claire Greene and Clark Tonia one daughter Mrs Raymond Moline Chicago Heights 10 grandchildren including Robert Kepple and Rita Barth and 21 great grandchildren.
The Cub Scout Pack meeting will be held on Web. Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center.
The Woman's Club of Greene hosts its annual Fall Festival Saturday November 16 starting at 9 a.m. at the Community Center with a noon meal, homemade foods, and a bake sale. Handicraft Club sells items and raffles a handmade quilt. Area artists demonstrate and display crafts, prints, and antiques, with plates in a four piece set depicting colonial figures and Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness inscription.
Handicraft members are reminded to turn in the quilt money and names and to bring baked goods or handicraft items for the Fall Festival on Saturday November 16.
The annual Girl Scout fund drive in Greene starts November 15, led by fundraiser chairman Gerald Stephen son. Parents of Girl Scouts and other locals will contact community members for donations before December 1.
