In Mason City a patient named Mrs George Whitson entered Mercy Hospital Sunday for treatment. She is under care as doctors manage her condition.
The U S Bureau of Reclamation rejected Interstate Power Company and 13 other midwestern suppliers plan to firm Missouri River hydroelectric power. M L Kapp said the Bureau cited economic comparisons but offered no negotiation window. He claimed the firm would save taxpayers 10 million annually and warned the decision would raise government debt and taxes.
Gene Mabb of Lawler Iowa was arrested by Marvin Barth in Greene Friday afternoon on a charge of petty larceny. Mabb took fifteen gallons of gas from the Henry H Dralle farm north of Bristow on May 7. He pleaded guilty and agreed to pay the costs and the gasoline. Mabb was given until May 15 to settle or serve six days in county jail.
Edward P Majewski 72 died early Saturday at his farm home southeast of Greene after a long illness He was born November 24 1889 in Floyd County to Joseph and Augusta nee Zebertt Majewski His marriage to Sadie Meek occurred February 3 1916 Survivors include his wife two sons Roy of Charles City and Dale of Greene four grandchildren four brothers Harry Martin James and John of Greene and one sister Lizze Majewski of Greene Funeral services were held Monday at 1000 at St Mary's Church with Rev P J Boyle officiating Burial followed at St Mary's Cemetery Williams Mortuary handled arrangements
The fifth annual meeting of the Historical Society of Butler County was held at City Hall in Allison Friday night. Officers elected include president Paul Schaeffer Allison, vice president Ben Westendorf Allison, secretary Mrs Dale Van Eman Parkersburg, treasurer Charles Yost Bristow. Board members span Allison, Parkersburg, Bristow, Clarksville, New Hartford, Aplington, Shell Rock, and other towns. Dane Shepard is parliamentarian. Feltus and Van Eman serve as curators.
Ronald Stewart sustained a broken nose during warmups for a baseball game last Wednesday. He was taken to Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City for treatment and returned home on Thursday.
Mr and Mrs E T Shekleton and Mr and Mrs Glenn Ralph of Mason City traveled to Dubuque Monday. They were joined by Father Gerald Shekleton and Father Thomas Ralph for a weeklong jet plane trip to Boston and New York.

Tom Kline has been drafted into the Army and is beginning basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. He reports to the base with plans to complete basic training and join active duty.
Allison Bristow beat Greene Rambles 5-3 in the sectional final on Saturday afternoon after rallying with three runs in the fifth inning. Nile Myers earned the win on the mound for the locals, allowing four hits with nine strikeouts as Clarksville fell 5-3 in the semifinals earlier in the week.
The Ramble track squad finished fourth in the Class A District Track Meet held at Osage on Monday evening. First places went to mile medley relay, mule relay, and Don Butzlaff in the discuss throw, with a new school record 3.41 by the mile relay.
Clyde LeRo. Johnson of Mason City and James Marshall of Greene were arrested Saturday night by Marvin Barth Deputy Sheriff and Arthur Wen. Town Marshal Marshall was charged with intoxication and Johnson with reckless driving. Both appeared in Justice of Peace court in Allison and pleaded away. Marshall paid a $1000 fine and Johnson a $5000 fine.
Mr and Mrs Clarence Dulin of St Helens Oregon are visiting in the home of his parents Mr and Mrs Clifford Dulin. They will visit Mrs Dulins parents in Pennsylvania before returning home.
The senior class will present three one act plays Tuesday May 22 at 800 pm in the high school gym. Plays include Such a Nice Girl The Bell and Thanks Awfully with cast members Melinda Andrews Bruce Cheney Sue Clapham La Von Johnson Carole Kollman Sheryl Ott Jean Van Dyke Jane Vogts Penny Wharton and Janice White.
The regular monthly Cub Scout Pack meeting will be held at Perrin Park next Wednesday May 23. A weiner roast is planned and all food is furnished by the pack. Coffee must be brought by those who want it. Arrive by 630 pm to watch a ball game. Awards must be turned in by Friday morning May 18.
The girls tennis team defeated Newman High School 3 to 1 in Mason City last Wednesday. Singles saw Sara Jane Green and Pam Drakle win, while doubles featured Vicki Brunsma with Barb Alison and Malinda Andrews with Martha Stuntz. The Greene squad will host Newman at 3:30 this afternoon.
Jennie Frericks age 60 died Tuesday at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City after a week as a patient. Born May 20 1901 near Allison to George and Annie Walters she married Matt Frericks Oct 8 1919. Survived by four daughters two sons Wilbur Frericks and siblings. funeral Friday at Williams Mortuary Greene with Rev George Knutson officiating burial at Butler Center Cemetery near Allison.
Jean Montgomery, patient at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, underwent major surgery last Thursday morning.

The Ladies Missionary Society presents The Spiritual Clinic pageant at Calvary Baptist Church on Thursday May 17 at 8 p.m. The cast includes the Doctor the Nurse and thirteen Patients. The Doctor explains that many illnesses stem from spiritual condition and invites all to hear the diagnosis and Bible based remedy.

Mr and Mrs Wayne Riehle and their sons Muk and Mitchell returned to their Tinley Park home Tuesday after nearly three weeks with relatives and friends in Greene Charles City and Lawler. Mrs Riehle is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Will Ramker of Greene.
