Admiral Rickover Warns U S Education Lags Russia
Admiral Rickover warns the United States faces a widening gap with Russia and Europe in education. He urges ten grades for core learning, fewer electives, diploma standards, accelerated tracks for the brightest, broader physical training, coordinated study standards, and possible ten month school years with higher teacher pay to prevent falling behind in science and other vital fields. He notes college costs are higher here and calls targeted aid for top students.
