Butler County Democratic precinct caucuses set for Wednesday April 6 1960 at 8:00 p m at Skinner's Cafe Clarks ville to elect delegates for the Butler County Democratic Presidential Convention on April 30 1960. All interested Butler County Democrats urged to attend and participate in their precinct caucus.
Thirty five thousand seedling trees will be planted on a thirty five acre plot north of Rudd owned by Perry Fouste of Rockford on Monday April 11 starting at 1 30 p m. Extension Forester Robert Davidson will supervise the demonstration as it gets underway. The planter is owned by the banks in Floyd County and available for loan to anyone in the county via the ASC office. The trees come from the Conservation Nursery near Ames for this Soil Bank planting. Dale Studt, County Extension Director, calls it a demonstration to promote conservation tree planting for interested people.
Mr and Mrs A F Lindell left Wednesday morning for LeRoy Michigan to attend a family reunion and honor Gust Lindell on his 75th birthday. They will also celebrate the April birthdays of A F Lindell and Mae Whinery.
Leon Dean Steere received $25.00 fine and $4.00 costs for disturbing the peace. Paul Ernest Hassman of New Hampton paid $7.50 and $5.00 for failure to dim lights. Russell Dean Folkerts was fined $15.00 with $400.00 costs for speeding. Walter William Eliason paid $20.00 and $4.00 costs for speeding. Dewain D. Benson of Waterloo faced $100.00 fine and $4.00 costs for intoxication. John James Stange of Aberdeen, SD, was bonded $300.00 and bound over for operating with license suspension.
The Black Hawk Steam Engine Club and the Chickasaw Historical Society jointly sponsor Thrasherman s Field Days at New Hampton on September 2 3 4 and 5.

Employers must file quarterly returns for workers earning 60 dollars or more, revealing names, numbers, wages, and taxes. Employers bear liability for back taxes, plus interest and penalties.
Funeral services for Nathaniel T. Boyd 82 were held at Toland Funeral home Newton. A Newton resident for 52 years he leaves one son Gerald and three daughters plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born July 22 1877 in Nevada he married Dela Garten February 12 1902 who died in 1958.
Confirmation services will be held Palm Sunday April 10 at St. John's Lutheran Church Wilmar for Stanley Lee Senne Janet Ann Jacobs Pauline Jane Smoot Russell Dean De Bower and Jeffery Lynn Boomegarden. They will be received into the Luther League at a banquet on Sunday April 24.
Tony Junker of Aredale died after surgery in Iowa City. Born March 10, 1907 in Austinville, he married Grace Perton in 1930. He lived on a Bennedette Township farm and is survived by his wife, two sons, three daughters, grandchildren, a sister, and seven brothers. Funeral services were held at the Aredale Methodist Church.
Superintendent W J Tatum of Greene Community S chool and Burton K Mitchell of Allison Bristow Community School attended the Mid West Drive In Conference in Sioux Falls South Dakota on March 27 28 and 29 The theme was Administrative Leadership Serving Community Schools. About 700 superintendents from Kansas Nebraska South Dakota North Dakota Minnesota Iowa and Missouri attended, with both leaders reporting three days of useful ideas for local schools.
Scott Ray Williams and David Harold Meyers were baptized during morning worship at the Methodist Church on Sunday. Both boys are sons of Mr and Mrs Harold Williams and Mr and Mrs Harold Meyers respectively.
The Board of Investors Mutual, Inc. declares a quarterly dividend of 9 cents per share payable April 1, 1960 to shareholders of record March 31, 1960. The dividend comes from undistributed net investment income and marks the 70th consecutive payment. The fund has about 143,200,000 shares outstanding.

Mr and Mrs erinsenrock arrived at Jokosuki Japan with their daughter Mrs Clar Raney and daughters Tamias and Lisa. They joined Fusion Raney who will be stationed for three years as legal and industrial relations officer for Naval Communications Facilities.

Butler County authorities seek a 1960 Falcon stolen from Greene Motors in Greene after a 1951 Chevrolet was found abandoned and burned nearby. The Chevrolet was stolen from Fisher Motor in Charles City Monday night. The car was wiped of prints. interior gutted and tires burned. Investigating agencies include the Allison Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Pitching should be solid with Gabe and Marsh, plus two freshmen Myers and Barth. Openers include Allison here April 8 with weather threatening, plus April 11 at Charles City and April 14 at New Hartford.
Superintendent V J Tatum is invited to attend the seventeenth annual Work Conference on Rural Education at Teachers College Columbia University New York City from July 25 to August 12. Attendance is by invitation to ensure wide rural representation. The conference will address fundamental problems in developing educational organization and programs to meet modern conditions.
Robert Charles Chapman infant son of Mr and Mrs Earl EB Chapman of Greene died shortly after birth March 30 at Cedar Valley Hospital. Prayer services were at Grossmann Hage Funeral Home officiated by Rev Eugene McMahon. Survivors include parents three brothers and grandparents. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Butler County 4-H clubs focus on Tractor Drivers Training during April and May meetings. Varlyn Fink notes the program pairs youths with fathers or older brothers to practice skills from starting to safe refueling. Demonstrations at meetings emphasize safety to reduce farm tractor accidents, which injure thousands yearly.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Holzschuh have returned home after spending the winter months in Mc Allen Texas.
The opening stag supper at Round Grove Golf and Country Club will be held Tuesday evening April 12. Members and guests are invited to attend the event at the club facilities.
Alr and Mrs John Sir Roberts returned Sunday evening from a ten day trip to the east coast. They spent several days in New York City with their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Robert Burge before their departure for England on March 30. Mr Burge graduated from law school in Berkeley California last June and received a scholarship for a years research at the University of London. Mrs Burge is the former Joan McRoberts of Greene.
New residents Mr and Mrs Clarence Jensen welcome daughter Alene June born Sunday April 3 weighing 6 pounds 8 ounces. Mrs Jensen is former Mary Ann Brinkman daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Brinkman. Also Edward Heitland and Vonnie Marie welcomed a daughter born Friday April. Infant weighs 8 pounds. Mr and Mrs Richard Ott announce daughter Janet Michelle born Wednesday March 30 at Cedar Valley Hospital. The infant weight not listed. Mr and Mrs Russell E Olson of Denver Colorado announce daughter Marcile Lyn weighing 8 pounds 12 ounces. Mrs Olson is former Clarene yd daughter of Mrs Hattie ford. Mr and Mrs William Henley of Shells Rock announce son weighing 9 pounds 4 ounces born this morning Wednesday April 6 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City. Mother is former Shirley O'Brien of Greene.
