Butler County Board of Supervisors schedules a public hearing on the fiscal 1976 77 budget for March 22 at 10 a m. Majewski Rites Held for Greene Resident at St Marys
Funeral services for John L. Majewski age 90 of Greene were held Tuesday at St. Marys Catholic Church with burial in St. Marys Cemetery. Born near Charles City April 17 1885 to Joseph and Augusta Majewski he died March 14 in Floyd County Hospital. Survived by wife Grace four sons Lewis Melvin Melve and Lloyd all of Greene ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Greene VFD Responds To Morning House Fire
The Greene Volunteer Fire Department answered a fire call at about 9 30 a m Sunday at the Dave Brinkman home. Cardboard boxes were set ablaze by a short in a battery charger while charging a battery in the basement. There was considerable smoke damage.

92 Year Old Greene Native Remembers River Town Boyhood
Charlie Hurd, born July 22, 1883 in Greene, recalls a river town with dirt streets and wooden sidewalks. He recounts helping in his father’s meat market, daily train arrivals, and a close family life with eight siblings, detailing life from stores to hotels, a tornado, a 12 foot family table, and the evolving town landscape. He shares family milestones, including 57 years of marriage to Barbara Kirsch and a large clan of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Posthumous Promotion for Lt Timothy Kline in Air Force
Announcement of First Lieutenant Timothy M. Kline’s posthumous promotion to captain follows a mission from Mildenhall England to Torrejon Spain where the aircraft crashed 10 miles from its destination. Seven crew members died, including Kline, navigator on a tanker for Strategic Air Command. His body returned to the U.S. February 14, services held February 17 in Wyoming Michigan. Lt Stephen Sterling another crew member, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, also buried with full military honors. Families of both officers attended.
