LeRoy Johnson age 25 of Gladbrook pleaded guilty before Judge Wild in Allison on Monday to a check charge and was arrested January 10 in Parkersburg. Wild sentenced him to four months in the county jail. Dan R McCaffery age 24 of Fort Dodge pleaded guilty to OMVI second offense and license suspension before Judge Wild on Monday. He received 150 days for OMVI and 60 days for license suspension with terms to run concurrently. he was arrested in January and is serving his term in the county jail.
Attorney Galen Hesalroad of Greene was arrested Friday night by two marshals at Nora Springs on charges of obtaining money by false pretenses and false drawing and uttering of an instrument. He is held in Floyd County Jail in Charles City in lieu of $1,500 bond on the false pretenses charge. He appeared before Justice Walter Rose in Charles City. Hesalroad is also held on a $100 bond for false drawing and uttering a check and will appear before Justice Mary Barr in Marbie Rock. A preliminary hearing date on the false pretenses charge has not been set.
Glenn Truex is a patient at St. Josephs Mercy Hospital in Mason City undergoing treatment after entering the hospital Sunday morning. He is not allowed visitors but residents may send him cards and letters.

Mrs Ingebord Kinsedahl is released from Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City after major surgery and is recuperating at Mt. Vernon with her son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs Robert Fredericks and their family.

Town highway patrol announces March enforcement on dimming headlights properly when meeting or following vehicles. Motorists will be pulled over for lights out of adjustment and must dim at 200 feet behind and 500 feet when meeting another vehicle.
The Greene Commercial Club will hold a supper and meeting at the high school cafeteria on Thursday evening March 8 at 6 30. Officers will be elected and other business discussed including flood precaution plans.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Freese announce the birth of a daughter on Wednesday February 28 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City. Dawn Renae Freese weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce.

Industrial Arts in Greene Community School opens a new engine mechanics program with a tractor engine donated by area International Harvester leaders Leo P. Deutsch and Loren McRoberts. The running test engine enables hands on study of various engines and teaches basic operator skills and the capabilities of power equipment.
August Steere died suddenly Tuesday at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City. Survivors include daughter Lucy and sons Merlin and Luman. Funeral services planned Friday at 2 PM at St John’s Lutheran Wilmar. Williams Mortuary handles arrangements.

Floyd County selects Duane D Morgan and Associates to design the Floyd County Memorial Hospital with a target occupancy in late 1964. The project progresses from preliminary plans by July 1 1962 to final specs in January 1963, with construction contracts let in early 1963. Sam F Reeser 71 of Dumont died February 26 of a heart attack at Waverly. Survived by wife four sons Glen Earl Robert Gene two daughters Lynn Tourtelotte and Fred Hudson, two brothers Ralph and Frank, two sisters Roy Quinby and Augusta Brown, and several grandchildren. Services last Wednesday at E U B Church in Dumont with interment in Dumont cemetery.

Leola Ekwall and Dean Vorhes escaped injury when their cars hit head on on North Fourth Street about 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. The northbound Ekwall car and the eastbound Vorhes car collided as visibility was hampered by snow. Estimated damage to each vehicle was $150.00.
Mes Leo Prange, 56, of Waterloo, suffered multiple bruises and lacerations when the car her husband was driving went out of control and collided with a Murphy Transportation Semi. The crash occurred on Highway 14 North of Allison as Prange rear ended a turning car and was cited for failure to yield. Darrell Kingery of Greene, driver of the semi, had head lacerations and both were treated at Scholtz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Mrs Hazel McNally received word last Wednesday of the death of her sister Mrs Alberta Stewart 83 at a rest home in Lincoln Nebraska. Stewart had suffered a stroke earlier that week and had been a patient in the rest home for five years.
George Merfeld ends twelve year tenure as a ground man with United Telephone Company. He retires from field duties, marking a long service period in the telecom crew and a transition to post work time.
