Doug Trees won the 120 pound state Class A title with an 8-2 final over Martin Eyeberg of Oakland at McElroy Auditorium Waterloo. It was his second state crown after the 112 pound title last year, with Trees finishing 29-0 in his senior year and 113-5 career record.

Iowa State University Students Win Degrees at Commencement

Iowa State University graduates numbered 507 with 349 BA, 10 master, and 52 PhD degrees awarded on Saturday March 1. Certificates went to five two year engineering program completers. The annual Red Cross campaign begins March 1 under Butler County Chapter Chairman Carl Heyenga with Claire Curtis as local chair. The fiscal year report lists expenditures by the chapter: military family services 363.00, blood program services 24.00, first aid and water safety 460.00, membership enrollment and fundraising 25.00, office of volunteers 334.00, and general administration 71.00.

Ramblers Fall to Dumont in Sectional Final

Greene's Ramblers were defeated by the Dumont Wildcats 60 to 45 in the sectional final at Rockford. Greene led 46 to 27 at halftime but Dumont slowed the pace, used strong defense, and pulled away late. Rich Siemens topped Greene with 2 field goals and 8 points in the final period, while Wendell Stuntz and Siemens each had 5 rebounds.

Students Win District Speech Contest at St Ansgar

Two Greene High School students earned Division I ratings at the district contest, securing spots in the state Speech tournament at Columbus High School Waterloo March 21 22. The Veterans Administration outlined new benefits for women including 36 months of GI Bill education aid for war widows and wives of permanently disabled veterans. Full time training receives $150 monthly. partial training gets reduced amounts. Unremarried war widows from World War II, Korea, or Post-Korean period may qualify for WVWA guaranteed 61 home loans. Awards Presented At Scout Banquet

Approximately 100 parents, Cub Scouts and friends attended the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet at Greene Elementary School on February 25. Wolf badges were awarded to Ressler, O'Brien, Clark, Duffield, Schroeder, McGee and Eimers. Bear badges went to Geesman, Parks, Barnes, Metzger, McGee, Nelson, O'Brien, Ritter and Anderson. Scott Anderson received bear badge with gold and two silver arrows. Bruce Markle and Brad Foster earned bear badge with gold arrow and two silver arrows. Webelos athlete awards went to Van Eschen and Anderson. Russell McGee received a service star for over one year as den chief. Greene Jaycees sponsor Cub Scouts since January 1969. Services Held For Mrs Albert Meyne

Mrs. Albert Meyne aged 78 of Waterloo died February 23. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church Waterloo. She was formerly Matilda Landers. Survived by son Melvin Meyne of Charles City, daughters Gladys Hurd of Waterloo and Bermice McDonald of Cedar Falls, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. One sister and four brothers also survive. The couple married November 3, 1915. Her husband died May 12, 1956.
