John B. Jack Turner 78 died Thursday in Jacksonville Florida after a long cancer illness. He lived in Greene for many years before moving to Jacksonville 16 years ago. He is survived by his wife three daughters Mrs William Weiner of Miami Mrs James Christy of Savannah and Mrs Ray Ashton of Sanford four sons Russell David Charles of Jacksonville and Robert of Charles City Iowa and 14 grandchildren. Ballots for the annual ASC community committee elections in Butler County townships will be mailed June 25. Voters have until July 7 to return ballots to the Allison county ASC office with postage free envelopes provided. Each township will elect three ASC community committeemen and two alternates for one year starting August 1. The highest vote-getter becomes township chairman. others are chosen by vote totals. Collision At County Line Near Greene Injures Two
Bernard Hildebrand and Dias Ellis narrowly escaped serious injury in a two car crash at 5 40 pm Thursday at a road crossing near the Greene area. A westbound Ellis car and a southbound Hildebrand car collided after Ellis stopped at a country road. Ellis sustained cuts and bruises while Hildebrand had minor injuries. Ellis’s 1955 Chevrolet was wrecked. Hildebrand’s 1957 Dodge hardtop had front end and right side damage after the crash sent his car into a road sign.
