Hydroplane Races at Greene on June 24
Sunday afternoon features the 2nd annual Those Good Old River Days hydroplane races on the Shell Rock River starting at 1 p.m. June 24. Sanctioned by Hawkeye and American Power Boat Assns., the 18 heat event draws boats from Iowa Wisconsin and Illinois over a 5 mile course and includes a bathtub race for comic relief. River Days Parade Draws About 50 Units in Greene
About 50 parade units have registered for the River Days Satur day parade in Greene as of Monday morning. The march will start at Greene Elementary School at 11 am, proceed downtown, with Greene Mayor Arthur Weiss as Grand Marshal and Greene High School Marching Band leading. Participants include Drum and Bugle Corps, Kalife Hampton motorbike drill team, queens and candidates, farm machinery, horse units, and floats. Sky Diving At Drum And Bugle Contest Half Time
Three sky divers will perform Saturday afternoon during the Drum and Bugle Corps competition half time at the Athletic Field. They will jump from an airplane at 3000 feet and, using smoke, execute hook ups and aerial acrobatics.
Hawaiian Luau and Fireworks Set for Perrin Park Night
The Greene Jaycees host a Hawaiian luau at Perrin Park Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m featuring barbeque pork and fresh fruit and live dinner music. A Shell Rock River aerial fireworks display follows, sponsored by the Commercial Club.

Way Station Announces River Days Open House
The Way Station in Greene invites the public to an open house for River Days titled Those Good Old River Days. It runs Friday Saturday and Sunday starting at 8:30 p.m. at a location above the Greene library. The station, open to all faiths and ages, shares its purpose as a ministry of love providing a welcoming Christian atmosphere with caring adults and youth.

Segue plans a world first 1 percent dive during Greene's Good Old River Days hydroplane races on Sun June 24.
