Funeral services were held May 29 at St Peter Lutheran Church Greene for Charles Schmidtke 88. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery Charles City. He died May 26 at Mather Nursing Home Greene where he lived since 1970. He was born May 13 1885 near Augusta and baptized July 26 1885 and confirmed March 26 1899. He married Martha Klingbeil August 18 1915 and had two sons LaVerne and Lyle. Survivors include LaVerne Lyle a granddaughter Beverly Lubben and Henry brother of Mason City plus nieces and nephews. His wife and three sisters and two brothers preceded him.

Lifesaving Program for Juniors and Seniors At Pool
Local youths aged 11 to 14 may join junior lifesaving and those 15 and older may enter senior lifesaving. Registration starts Monday June 11 at 9 30 am at the pool. Bring swimwear and be ready to participate in the week long session running through June 18.

Centennial plans for Church of the Brethren celebration

Scout Troop 26 Plans Park Meeting and Camporee
Scout Troop 26 will meet in Perrin Park tonight at 7 pm to plan a camporee for the weekend, assign new scouts to patrols, and distribute Good Old River Days tickets.
