Walter Wilhelm of Bristow led Republicans for Clerk of the District Court with 961 votes, beating four opponents. Walter Woodley won Butler County treasurer with 924 votes, while John Lang trailed with 587. Sheriff Pete Boomgarden held off Schneiderman 1270 to 1008. First district supervisor Skinner topped Ramige and faces Neil Stauffer in November. In other races H R Gross won the congressional nomination. Dems Peterson and Stokes pursued the 3rd District seat. Voter turnout was light across Iowa.
The Butler County Historical Society Museum in Allison will be open each Thursday from 1 30 to 4 00 p m with Mrs George Feltus in charge, providing an afternoon viewing and local history access.

A stag supper will be held at the Country Club on Tuesday evening June 9. A committee of men from Allison is organizing the event.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Albrecht welcome their son born Sunday May 31 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City. The baby weighs pounds 11 ounces and is named Curtis Lee. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Allie Albrecht and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Foster. Newspaper RAPHIVE.
Philip A. Neumann, 70, died suddenly at his Greene home on Saturday. He had lived in Greene a year after marrying Pearl Marsh on May Sth, 1963. Survivors include his wife, two daughters Wilma Blair and Beverly Shirk, three sons Carl George Lloyd, one stepson Ralph Marsh and one stepdaughter Lawrence Paplow. He was preceded in death by his first wife Minnie. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Denver with burial in Fritz Cemetery nearby.
Dorothy Dreier received a bachelor of science degree in education at Wartburg College commencement exercises in Waverly on Friday.
Greene Hambler Little League opens June 4 with Nora Springs on the local diamond. Little League plays at 6:00 pm. Babe Ruth at 7:30 pm. Ramblers seek a fifth straight Little League title. Babe Ruth roster includes 36 players. Junior students Witwer and Ott win Girls' and Boys' State selections sponsored by the American Legion. Witwer to Cedar Falls June 14–20 and Ott to Camp Dodge June 6–13.
About 90 Iowa public and school librarians, including Mrs. Ina Nichol, pre-registered to attend the 13th annual Library Workshop that began Monday at The State University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Sixteen Greene Community School students entered the Poppy poster contest sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. First place went to Lynn Muller, daughter of Edward and Mrs Miller, and second to Debra Fraschi, daughter of Russell and Mrs Frascht.

James E Small 86 died in a Peoria hospital from burns suffered when gasoline was ignited down a gopher hole near his Roanoke home Illinois He served the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren at Roanoke from 1932 to 1947 Survivors include his wife three sons and three daughters Mildred Elliott of Parkersburg among them

Duane Leavens of Greene recently won an English bicycle in the World of Prizes contest held at T and M Cities Service in Greene. The nationwide competition spans all Cities Service stations. Pictured with the bicycle are Duane and his brothers Tom and Paul, and Clarence Teeple.
Steven Rottler led twenty two Iowa State students and two instructors as they depart Ames on Tuesday for a month long Europe tour. The group participates in the Agricultural Travel Course visiting multiple European sites and programs.
William Fisher 77 died Sunday morning May 1 after a long illness. Born October 27 1886 in Floyd County to Fred and Eva Fisher he lived in Greene most of his life. He married Freda Paplow in 1912, farmed west of Greene, retired in 1947, and served 19 years as an agent for First Maxfield Insurance. Survived by wife two granddaughters a grandson one son Lyle Ian infanes a daughter Thelma two sisters and many great grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday June 2 at St Peters Lutheran Church Greene with Rev A J Deimes. burial in Rose Hall Cemetery.
Martha Stuntz of Greene Community High School is the candidate for Miss North Iowa at the Band Festival on June 9. A senior, she is first chair flute in the concert band and has prior high rankings in the Dorian Festival and All-State Orchestra in 1963. She earned a Division T flute solo rating and made the first all conference basketball team as forward. Stuntz participates in mixed chorus, National Honor Society, class Play, and track. she is the daughter of Clyde and Fern Stuntz.
Marvin Moser of Greene won the second heat race and finished third in the feature at the Nashua stock car race Saturday night, highlighting a strong showing in the evening program.
A new beginners band for fourth graders at Greene Community School is forming. Ray Holtz reports high interest as students take aptitude tests and try instruments. Parents are invited to the high school band room Friday June 5 to discuss instrument purchase ahead of summer lessons.
Mr and Mrs Wayne Jones returned to their San Diego home after several weeks with Mrs Florence Woodhung at her residence.
Jimmy G Anthony faced speeding in a restricted zone and paid 5.00 in fines plus 4.00 in costs. Robert W Eaton also from Greene paid 5.00 fine and 4.00 costs for a restricted zone violation. Larry Williamson of Greene paid 5.00 fine and 4.00 costs for defective equipment on his car.
Mr and Mrs J B Hardy spent from Monday until Friday night in Rochester Minnesota where he underwent treatment during the stay.

Henry Kingery came home to Charles City on May 23 after a month as a patient at University Hospital Iowa City following surgery. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Orval Kingery of Greene and plans to return to Iowa City on June 8 for further treatment.
Mrs. Jeanette McCracken 82, died unexpectedly at her son-in-law and daughter’s home May 27. She was born September 9, 1881 in Greene, graduate of Greene High School 1899, married James Edward McCracken in 1907. Survived by two daughters, one grandson, and several siblings. Funeral at Williams Mortuary Friday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Warne Gjerde officiated. interment Rose Hill Cemetery.
The Boy Scouts will hold an auto safety check on Saturday June 6 from 9:00 to 12:00 o'clock DST on East Dow Street at the Albrecht statecay building. Everyone is urged to participate in the car check.
