Charles O Neal received his Documented Yield Award for producing a corn yield of 120 bushels per acre off 15 acres. Harvey Schmidt of Clarksville presented the award. O Neal harvested 1800 bushels of No 2 corn from 15 acres, 50 percent above the Iowa state average. He used Funk s G 17A in 38 inch rows with 20 000 plants per acre, fertilized with 30 pounds of actual nitrogen phosphate and potash per acre, plus a pre emergence herbicide and soil insecticide.
In Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City John Groothus was admitted Sunday afternoon and is listed in critical condition. Verle Hesalroad was admitted Tuesday afternoon for tests and observation at the same hospital.

Mrs George Hamilton was discharged from Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City on Thursday January 2 after admission December 10 for treatment and observation.
Harold Shultz a 30 year old man suffered serious injuries when his pickup struck by a Rock Island Rail freight engine at the F Ely crossing in Greene after 9 am Saturday. He was taken to Floyd County Memorial Hospital then transferred to St Marys Hospital Rochester Minnesota. Two nine hour operations on Sunday aimed to remove bone splinters from his brain and assess injury. Doctors report him unconscious but stable and improving if he remains so for several days.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kock welcomed a daughter, Twila Marie, on December 31 at St. Josephs Hospital in Waverly. The baby weighed six pounds one ounce and has a brother named Ted awaiting at home. Grandparents are Lester Kock of Rockford and Howard Wells of Bristow, with great grandparents Pearl Bowen of Rockford, Helen Kock, Louise Wells, and Dick Van Horn.

Funeral services for Sadie Anna Majewski were held at St Mary's Catholic Church in Greene at 10:00 a m. She died January 4 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City. Born February 1 1898 in Floyd County she was the daughter of Charles and Mar nee Willis. Survived by two sons Roy and Dale four sisters two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment at St Mary's Cemetery. Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge.
A two day Agricultural Credit School will be held in Rockford on January 13 and 20. Floyd County Extension Director Robert McCrackin announces a lending policy panel including Ed Batty of First State Bank Don Sabbann of the Production Credit Association Harold Martin of the Farmers Home Administration B G Larson of Larson Collett Implement and Art Asmussen of anAgricultural supply firm State specialist Herb Howell and area farm management leader Harold Hill will address credit costs repayment and use of credit. Complete programs are available from the county extension office at Charles City. Prospective attendees should contact McCrackin for pre registration. Registration fee is 3.00.
The Greene public library resumes Story Hour this Saturday with Mrs. Bob Fischer the story lady presenting tales for children aged four and older from 1 15 to 2 00 p m. Children should enter via the side entrance and be accompanied by a guardian if needed.
Gary Frahm Butler County Extension Director announced final yield calculations from the Iowa Crop Improvement Association for 19 farmers in the Butler County Master Corn Growers Contest. A public meeting is set January 22 at 7 30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Auditorium to reveal winners and award prizes. Kay Connelly will discuss Trends and New Developments in Corn Production with topics including futures market leaf area index hybrids plant orientation and slow release fertilizer.
North Iowa Area Community College advances a plan for a centralized multi media center funded by a 3/4 mill levy. Dale Becker and Elsie Oetken gather bibliographies and equipment lists to aid faculty and administration, envisioning color coded catalog cards and wireless listening for instructional tapes, with carrels and projectors for student use.
The American Heart Association reports 1968 Heart Fund contributions totaling 37,744,436, a 5 percent rise from 1967. Iowa donors contributed 494,000, and Heart Sunday boosted receipts to 11,277,426. Bequests and memorials rose, business contributions climbed, and special gifts/events hit new records. Over 1.75 million volunteers supported Heart Sunday efforts. The 1969 drive runs through February nationwide.
Duane L. Smith of Greene is notified that his Registered Holstein cow Lady Leader Duchess 4881293 has produced 105537 pounds of milk and 3727 pounds of butterfat in 2686 days from age two. The Holstein Association cites 29700 cows reaching 50 ton production and links high output to feeding, management, genetics, and longevity.
The new year's changes raise the hospital deductible from 40 to 44 dollars and adjust daily costs for extended stays. Beneficiaries entering hospitals after January 1 face higher shares, with 11 dollars daily from days 61 to 90 and 5.50 dollars daily for extended care days 21 to 100 plus 22 dollars per reserve day.

Mr and Mrs Gary D Kingery of Charles City welcome a son born January 6 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and is named Kelly Dean. Miss Elizabeth Sletten of Minneapolis spends her winter vacation with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. L. Morey. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R. G. Sletten.
