Explorer Scouts to Pick Up Trees for Burning of Greens

Explorer Scouts will collect discarded Christmas trees on Saturday January 7 by 8 30 am, placing them at the curb. The Burning of the Greens ceremony by Girl Scouts Cadets and Brownies takes place Sunday January 8 at 5 30 pm at Klassi Acres.

Swine Producers Plan Banquet in Butler County

The Butler County Swine Producers Association will hold its annual meeting and banquet on January 30 at the Farm Bureau Auditorium in Allison. Tickets go on sale this week at the Extension Office in Allison and from local producers. Dr. M. D. Whitcker, Extension Swine Specialist at Iowa State University, will speak after a recent Europe swine tour, with entertainment, door prizes, and director elections for the coming year.

Sister Mae Maxwell Dies in California at 64

Mae Maxwell known as Mrs. Lawrence Arms died in Burbank California on December 9. She lived in Mason City until about 13 years ago and is survived by her husband a son a daughter and sister Mrs. Harry Ott of Greene. Funeral services were held in Burbank on December 11.

Beef Producers Plan Short Course in Iowa

A three day Beef Producers Short Course for cattle feeders in Floyd and Mitchell counties will start Thursday January 19 at Club Iowa in Charles City with sessions January 16 and February 2. Hamline Pipers honor Mehlan at MIAC championship banquet

The Floyd County Extension Service sponsors a full day Corn and Soybean Clinic on Friday January 13 in the Government Agency room below the Extension office in Charles City.
