World Day of Prayer plans celebrated by Church Women United
Greene church plans World Day of Prayer on Friday March 1 at 2 pm in the Presbyterian Church. The national event unites women from thousands of communities across the United States and 168 lands in a theme Make Us Builders of Peace. Participants will join in prayers for peace building and support international projects for justice, rehabilitation, education, and community uplift.

Rites Held for Philip Maguire Former Greene Resident
Services for Philip C. Maguire, 73, longtime Greene area resident, were held Friday at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery. He was survived by a brother, the Rev Paul Maguire of Rockford, and three sisters, Margaret, Pauline, and Ruth Maguire of Davenport and Rockford.
