Tim Kline Dies in AF Plane Crash in Spain
Tim Kline a 1968 Greene High School graduate, 25, killed when a U S Air Force KC-135 cargo plane crashed near Torrejon Spain en route from Royal AFB England to Spain. Navigator of the seven crew, based Seymour Johnson AFB Goldsboro NC, mission in Europe for weeks, explosion and fire, investigation pending. He is survived by wife Jan and a 2% year old son in Florida, and by his parents and siblings. Burial planned in Wyoming Michigan.

Greene students sweep Iowa state speech contest
Greene speech and drama students dominated the Iowa State Large Group Speech Contest on Feb. 7 with all 23 entrants earning state division I ratings in readers theatre, choral reading, and mime. All 23 received outstanding performance nominations, sending Greene as guest performers to the All-State Speech Contest at Simpson College in Indianola on Feb. 21. The group The Three Swine of Most Small Stature was noted as the only act cited for outstanding performance by all three judges. Nine students earned division I ratings with outstanding performance awards in readers theatre and many in choral reading.

Water Trees Greene Winter Watering Advice

Sister Nettie Helt Dies at 88 in Dumont Rites
Mrs Anna Reed Miller received word that her sister Miss Nettie Helt a resident of Allison Manor Rest Home died February 8 at age 88. Six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include Mrs Anna Miller and several nieces and nephews. Rites were held Tuesday at Dumont.

Roy Wefel age 69 died Thursday at Waverly Hospital. Rites were held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
