The Farmers Co operative Creamery Association held its annual meeting in the high school auditorium. Leo Benson of State Brand Creameries gave a guest talk. Directors elected: Duane Smith Har ley Hansen Ted Brinkman. others named include Leonard Litterer Clair Johnson Lowell Allen. W F Nelson is manager with Carroll Schroeder and Charles Reams as assistants. Milk department led by Gust Johnson Milton Humke. Haulers listed: Carlton Boller Duanel Leavens Urban Kelly Dick Mobley Gordon Freeseman Fred Wordmeyer Larry Peters Ronald Schuknecht. Milk purchases reached 25,000,000 pounds in 1961 with total income $941,371.89.
Francis Grendler with a social studies BA from the University of Iowa in Iowa City has volunteered for the National Guard Reserves. He expects to leave for training in March.
Cub Scout Pack No. 26 held its regular monthly meeting January 31 in the elementary school gym. The Bear den demonstrated magic. opening exercises were by the Wolf den. Awards went to Duane Schroeder and Lyle Williamson for bear badges, and Dan Wegand for a lion badge. Plans were made for the February 13 Blue and Gold banquet. The Cub Scout basketball team will host Allison on February 10 at 9 a.m. All 8 to 11 year olds are invited to practice Saturdays at 9 a.m. in the high school gym.
The Greene Commercial Club supper and meeting scheduled for Thursday evening February 8 has been postponed. A new meeting date will be announced later by club officials.
Greene Cafe won the team title with 2518 points while Gertie Marsh swept all events in the women's city bowling tournament. Standings show Curtis Insurance 2503, Murphy Transportation 2484, Stanton Livestock 2473. Top scores include Kay Nordmeyer 179 and Carol Schultz 181, with Marsh totaling 488 for her events. The all events champions are Marsh 1449, Markle 1416, Sneed 1402, Bliss and Schmitz 1342. The Butler County women team claimed the state tourney title at Boone with 2923, listing Loretta Miller, Evelyn Behnke, Marge Kingery, Dawn Cheney and Gertie Marsh.
A junior high dance is set for Saturday evening February 10 starting at 7 30 in the lunch room of the community school. Seventh and eighth grade students are invited. Sponsors are Mr Keimers Mr Timer Mrs Barnhart and Miss Zika.
Francis Wilson of Elwood New Jersey had an emergency appendectomy at an Atlantic City hospital on January 29 and recuperates at home. Mrs Wilson is former Marjorie Newcomer of Greene. Bob Mead of Greene had an emergency appendectomy at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City Tuesday afternoon. Merlin Schrock also underwent surgery at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City.
The Butler County Agronomy Short Course opens with 60 farmers participating. Kay A. Connelly notes the first day covers land and soil background, soil conservation, soil use, soil testing, and plant nutrition through chemistry. The workshop continues with a second session on February 14.
Mr and Mrs Paul Lewison welcome a son Bret Paul born Sunday January 28 at the City weighing 8 pounds 9 3 4 ounces. Mr and Mrs Duane Miller welcome a son Stanley John born Friday February 2 at the City weighing 7 pounds.
Stephanie Culbertson the daughter of Mrs Berniece Culbertson has been chosen Miss Homemaker 1962 at John Marshall High School Rochester Minnesota She is a junior and won after scoring highest in a special test.
Claude Scott 79, former resident of this area, died at his home in Cameron Wisconsin on Monday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Baron Wisconsin at 2 PM Thursday, burial there. He is survived by his wife, one son Gerald of California, brothers Ray Pawhuska Oklahoma Emory Allison John Greene Gene Nashua and Mrs Charles Dailey Greene and Mrs Ray Smith Waverly and several grandsons.
Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Sperry return home after a three weeks vacation visiting Carlsbad Caverns Mesa Palo Alto Turlock Las Vegas Hoover Dam and Lake Mead recreation area. They report three inches of snow at Turlock the first since 1887 and each family built a snow man.

L Dennis Juhl, son of Mr and Mrs Louie Juhl, has enlisted in the Navy and is in basic training at San Diego California. His brother Roger Juhl recently returned to Hawaii from Japan aboard U S S Lansing with address listed in Hawaii.

Berniece Culbertson of Rochester Minnesota had eye surgery at Willis Eye Hospital in Philadelphia last Wednesday. Mrs Alfred Lampman and Mrs Ellis Bammann accompanied Mrs Bessie Bammann to Iowa City on Tuesday where she entered University Hospital for eye surgery on Thursday. Her room is C232.
The Butler County Cattle Feeder's Association schedules its annual banquet for March 6. The event in the Boyd Building at Shell Rock will feature Humorous speaker John Rhodes of Le Grande and Dr. John Herrick, Extension Veterinarian from Iowa State University, with tickets going on sale next week.
