The editor argues that current wrestling scoring penalizes teams with byes, using Greene Nashua and St Ansgar as examples. A fair system would equalize first round byes, limiting any team to at most one more bye than others. Such changes could improve future meets and fair competition.

Areas include bus maintenance garage, new shop facilities at the high school, music facilities, gymnasium with 1100 seats, conversion of current gym to cafe auditorium, new locker rooms, glass block installation, new toilet facilities, heating system conversion, and door replacements. Estimated cost 388000 dollars, raising millage 3.4 per thousand. Mrs George Menken underwent major surgery at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City on Wednesday. Kenneth Wunsch son of Mr and Mrs Walter Wunsch underwent an appendectomy at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City Sunday morning. Sandra Allen daughter of Mr and Mrs Lowell Allen underwent surgery Monday at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Greene Jaycees report many surveys mailed last week have been returned and urge all Greene area residents who received the questionnaire to mail them in promptly to obtain a fuller picture of community opinion.

Dennis L Viers son of Mr and Mrs Gene Viers has been promoted from Private to Private First Class. He serves as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg North Carolina. He enlisted in May 1966.
The Farmer's Co-operative Creamery will hold its annual meeting at Greene Community School on Saturday February 4. A free lunch will be served at noon and the meeting will follow. A State Branch Creamery representative will speak and officers will be elected.

Ray Thorne has died in Rochelle Illinois. His remains will be sent to Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene. Graveside services are planned at Hillside Cemetery Marble Rock on Friday at 11 00 AM.

The Iowa State Tax Commission reports Butler County totals for the quarter ending June 30 1966. Butler County collected 98619.05 in sales tax with Greene leading at 21892.50 followed by Allison 11122.81 Parkersburg 15617.82 Clarksville 12146.67 Appling ton 8378.10 Dumont 6599.46 Shell Rock 5357.24 New Hartford 4883.02 and smaller figures for under 500 population rural and non permit categories. Consumer tax totaled 617.00 and use tax on motor vehicles and trailers reached 14582.52.
Tickets are on sale for the Floyd County Beef Producers banquet to be held Tuesday February 14 at Club Iown in Charles City. Bruce Pennington of Rudd, president, says beef board members Dixon Marsh of Greene and the Floyd County Extension office also have tickets.
The Greene High School stage band, chosen from north Iowa, will play at the North Central and Northeast Iowa Bandmasters clinic in Charles City next Saturday February 4 around 2 30 p m for directors demonstrating new selections. Guest clinician Jack Watts will critique the band and directors. A concert follows in the evening. Clinic sessions happen in the junior high building, and all events are open to the public.
Firefighters were called to the Galen Maxwell farm west of town last night around 8 15 and a corn crib with about 450 bushels of corn and several pigs were destroyed. The cause is unknown and was found by Maxwell.
Vern Gard announces the school and junior high honor roll for the second quarter and first semester. The list includes seniors, juniors, and multiple sophomore and freshman students, with numerous names from 8th to 7th grade and classes across the junior high. Greene high school boys beat Parkersburg 66 to 43 while the Ramblerettes fell 48 to 45 at home. Mary Rottler scored 22 to lead Greene. Parkersburg’s Sandra Dickau had 15. Team shooting percentages were 36 and 45 percent respectively.
Butler County Supervisors opened quotations at four meetings. Detroit Bolt and Nut Co. bid 3144.35 for hardware. Hanstrom Hubly Tractor bid 18900 for an Allis Chalmers M100B based at Clarksville. Klassi Motors offered 3049 per 2 ton trucks and 779 for a pickup. Benning Motor Co. 993.61 for the pickup. Hawk Eye Equipment bid 865 each for two Anthony dump boxes.
In Hospital Mrs Augusta Martzahn is a patient in the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge. Her room number is 421. Mrs Martzahn will observe her 91st birthday anniversary on Friday February 3.
Vernon Kyht of Parkersburg was re-elected by members of the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association to serve as a director for a three year term beginning February 1 1967. He will represent Butler County dealers at the annual director s meeting in Des Moines March 19 opening day of the 49th Annual Convention of the Town Automobile Dealers Association.
Gladys Henrietta Ditchen 61 died at her home west of Greene after a months illness. Born July 11 1905 near Greene she was the daughter of Charles and Augusta Maxwell. She married Peter William Ditchen who preceded her in death. Survived by son Kenneth and daughter Mary Hansen of Greene, sisters Edna Piersal Ackley and Martha Stanton Greene, brothers Galen Maxwell Greene and Gordon Maxwell Charles City. The Boy Scouts of America marks 57th anniversary February 7 to 13 with the theme Scouting Rounds a Guy Out. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts urged to wear uniforms at school on Rededication Day February 8. Scout Sunday February 12 invites Scouts to church in uniform. Blue and Gold banquet set for February 15 in Greene elementary school. Butler District totals: 7 Cub Scout Packs 192 Cubs, 9 Boy Scout troops 249 members, 3 Explorer Posts 44 members. Winnebago Reservation Marble Rock hosts year round training. In 1966 66 troops with about 1,050 boys camped June–July. off-season 60 units and 1,000+ boys camped rest of year. Program financed by unit funds campaigns and sustaining memberships.
