Perry Hinrichsen Dies Suddenly at 39

Perry Hinrichsen 39 of Charles City died Monday evening at 6 30 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines after an early morning admission. Survived by wife three children Ronnie Joane Marie and Steven one year old father John Hinrichsen two brothers Mervin in Marble Rock and Alden in Spice Minnesota and one sister Norma Ewald of Marble Rock. Farmers Must File Income Tax By January 15th

Farmers earning two thirds of 1967 income from farming must file an estimated federal income tax for 1967 using Form 1040-ES by January 15, 1968. If they file the 1967 tax return and pay any tax due by February 15, 1968, they need not file an estimate. The Farmer's Tax Guide is available from the IRS Des Moines District or county farm agent.

James Murphy Returns to States Aboard USS Constellation

Aviation Ordinanceman Third Class John J. Murphy, USN, son of Mr and Mrs James P Murphy of Dougherty, has returned to the United States after a seven month Seventh Fleet deployment in the Western Pacific aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Constellation. The carrier spent much of its time off Yankee Station near North Vietnam conducting 106 major air strikes on Hanoi Haiphong area targets, destroying petroleum storage, bridges, and shipyards. Constellation pilots flew 10,583 combat and support missions and made more than 71,700 arrested landings aboard the ship.

Corn Soybean Clinic Promises 1968 Crop Advice

A Corn Soybean Clinic led by Dr. E. R. Duncan and Dale Studt of Iowa State University Extension is planned for Floyd and Mitchell County farmers on January 12 at the Moose Lodge. North Iowa Health Council Organized in Ten-County Area

The North Iowa Health Council formed in 1967 to advise on health facility use across ten counties including all nine NIAD counties and Kossuth. It aims to avoid duplication, coordinate facility procurement, improve services, and plan a regional center with patient referrals via physicians while maintaining strong local facilities. The council, led by C. L. Helleque of Mason City, meets monthly with reps from all ten counties.

Ramblers win and lose as freshmen and junior high fall

Freshmen Ramblers beat Marble Rock 52 to 22 on December 20 with strong defense and rebounding. Sophomore Ramblers defeat Riceville 56 to 45 on December 18 led by Debner 19 and Shultz 14 while missing easy layups and committing turnovers. Junior High Ramblers split results at Bristow December 21 with 7th grade losing 60 to 12 and 8th grade falling 45 to 16 despite some early success.

Commodity Program Signups Begin Feb 5

Signups for the 1968 feed grain and wheat programs will run from February 5 through March 15. Kenneth E. Hart, Chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation County Committee, says applications show farmers’ program intentions. The feed grain program offers diversion payments, price support loans, and diversion payments for 1968, while the wheat program provides price-support loans and marketing certificates to reach full parity for domestic use, with no diversion payment for wheat.
