M&M Marvin Bruns were the honored guests at a dinner held Sun Dec 9 at the Corner House for their 35th wedding anniversary. Hosts were M&M Don Feldman and family, M&S Richard Ross and family, and M&M John Osier and family.
To observe the 60th anniversary of M M oD G Arends of 604 St Ackles the couple Anna Beving and Dick G Arend were married December 17 1913 at East Friesland Presbyterian parsonage by Rex F W Engetke. They have four children ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren with one grandson Bruce Alan Arends deceased. No special celebration planned but a card shower is suggested by their children.
Aredale area residents host and visit relatives over the weekend with multiple Sunday dinners. Mrs Oscar White and Mrs Nira Griner host guests. Raymond Lickweg, Alma Feldhus, and Carl Stock are among those visiting. The parish committee and church leadership are listed with names, roles, and alternates.
The infant Melanie Jane Mitchell was baptized at First Presbyterian Church Nevada with 40 guests at a turkey dinner afterward. The afternoon featured visiting, photos, and a pink white baby carriage cake with punch coffee nuts and mints. New church officers for United Methodist Church in Aredale elected: Trustees Carl Corporan Carl Stock Karl Zimmerman vice pres. Mrs. Fleld Bachmann treas. Wilbur Ue Pres. thru 76 Gene Reser. nominations Ceron nes: Erol McWilthary Dan Noelting Tillie Ainsley Susie Cutler Alene Wilke Manetta Brow Leis Johnson Catherine Bocmann Nina Gmuer Havel Stock.
A Dun. afternoon celebration honored Lisa Meek on her 2nd birthday observed Dec 5 at her parents’ home. Attendees included great grandmother Mrs Harold Kingery and great grandparents M and W Armild Waken. Gifts opened and refreshments served. Evening guests Arnold Wilken and Beverly Wilken.
Greene Jr. High Ramblers defeated Rockford 44 to 30 last Friday. Jeff Coim Tom Pyatt and Kevin Freeseman earned pins. Other winners included Kevin Heitland Galen Henricks Joel Backer Joe Bogge na Denny Delp and John Geesman Scott Spratt. Norimeyer and Geesman wrestled strongly. Geesman dominated Brad Fike. Next dual is Friday against Nora Springs.
Snitker of Postville at 155 pounds defeated Don Foster of Riceville in round one. Whim then lost to Dean Humpal of South Winneshiek by 42. Whim fell to LeRoy Hofer of Postville in consolations 40. At 167 pounds Rick Schwennen was pinned by Chris Christensen of Riceville. Christensen later won the division. At 185 pounds Byron Schipper was pinned by Dan Brainard of Postville. Brainard finished third. HWT Andy Nelson was pinned.
