The Greene High School Band and Choir present a Christmas concert on Wednesday December 18 at 8: 00 p m as part of a five concert series. Farmland Industries Meeting Draws Greene Residents in Kansas City
About 1,000 people attended the 40th annual Farmland Industries meeting in Kansas City December 4 to 6. Greene visitors included Francis and wife, Dean and wife, John and wife Backer, J. Maynard Bruce, George Shultz, and Eldin Peterson, representing Farmers Inc. Coop Society of Greene, Iowa. Ernest T. Lindsey reported a fiscal year gaining 390.6 million with 16.7 million saved, half refunded in cash to member cooperatives by patronage. Cooperatives served rose from 1,800 to about 2,000, reflecting expansion into Texas and Minnesota. Other speakers included Debra Barnes, Greg Dashford, Dr. Earl Heady, Robert Gadberry, Dr. Kraenzel, Howard Smith, Dr. Brake, and Dr. Lippitt. Osmond Brothers performed Thursday night.

4-Hers Return From Chicago Awards Trip
Twelve Butler County 4-H members returned from the 4-H Awards Trip to Chicago December 1st sponsored by the Butler County 4-H Trust Fund in recognition of outstanding work. Born October 19 1895 in Butler County to Edward and Marie Thompson she was a music teacher and supervisor in Washington state schools until retiring in Greene. A Eastern Star member 50 year PEC and life member of First Presbyterian Greene, survivors include cousins and relatives in Michigan California Tennessee and Cedar Falls. Funeral services were Monday December 9 at Reid's Funeral Chapel with Rev Donald Welsch officiating burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
