Pancake Day Feeds 650 in Greene Area Thanks Volunteers
A Greene Ta community note thanks volunteers and business people for a successful Pancake Day serving over 650 people in just over two hours. About 3600 sausages 2400 pancakes and gallons of coffee milk and syrup were used. Winners of Greenebucks named and members urged to pay Commercial Club dues.

Greene High School musicians earned 31 Division I Solo and Ensemble ratings at the State Small Group Contest held last Friday and Saturday. Nine of the total were solo ratings as Greene musicians outpaced Buffalo Center and other competitors in Division I performance.

Sculptures by Betty Kester former Greene resident now in Ashland Oregon will be on display at Greene Library April 10. Kester who spent 15 years in Alaska has earned honors at exhibits and is planning a fall one man show. She works with stone and wood and will bring Iowa walnut and other woods to Oregon for future pieces. Smaller works will be shown in Greene due to transport space. She is visiting this week with M M Galen Martzahn.

Lois McBurney Named Hidden Heroine of Girl Scouts
Lois McBurney is honored as a Hidden Heroine by Brownie Troop 311 for decades of service in Girl Scouting since 1956. She led Cadette Troop 265 for 15 years, worked with Brownies and Cub Scouts, organized a paper drive, and conducted community projects. She and husband Don raised six children and now Mrs McBurney runs Lois's Upholstery Shop while remaining active in Red Cross, Woman's Club, and church groups.
