The Indiana board of canvassers, led by Governor Gray and 12 marshals, counts the presidential electors. A missing Eighth District marshal delays results as officials await the Nickth District tally, with Garfield leading Hancock by about 3,771 votes and an expected official plurality near 6,200 after all totals are received.

In Vevay Indiana on November 22 a dispute between George William Carve and William J Keeney settled after appeal.
