Dewey Snider was arrested on a charge of robbing Putnam County homes and confessed to Judge Hughes Tuesday morning. He claimed his uncle Ulysses Snider and he stole over 31 300 dollars worth of stamps.
Flora Belle Snider concedes burying stamps and valuables from robberies after her son Dewey Snider confessed to a Putnam County court. Dewey and uncle Ulysses Snider implicated in multiple robberies including the Coal Bluff post office in July, with more than 1500 dollars in stamps and war savings stamps stolen. Robert Snider and Flora Snider face pri va sentences on bonds as officers say the confession advances the case.
Sheriff Lancaster links an army desertor arrest to a theft spree. A found coin led to Robert Snider residence where stolen goods including stamps were seized. Dewey Snider and Flora Belle Snider deny knowledge until a Tuesday morning confession emerged. Prosecution delays sentence until Wednesday with possible arraignments for Mr. and Mrs. Snider.

W F Switzer becomes superintendent at Avon and Bainbridge, C W Fiske oversees Bellemore and Morton, Nolan Ben Davis leads DE and Bethel. Multiple churches across Indiana name new pastors and assignments including Brazil First, Clouse in Indianapolis, and Terre Haute Centenary.
A Greencastle Fall Festival Mardi Gras on October 22 and 23 will feature a large parade with costumes and prizes. Downtown streets will be closed for revelers. a band leads the parade with plans for a king and queen appearance.

Oscar Stevenson sells land in Floyd township to Ralph L Smith for 1000 dollars. Hiram E Keck and associates transfer Jackson township land to Jesse F Jones and Jewell Hayes. Hayes returns land to Keck. Bainbridge Cemetery Association sells a Bainbridge cemetery lot to Dexter Harrigan for 20 dollars. Henry Allee acquires a Bainbridge lot.
Mrs Ford Lucas, state secretary of the State Parent Teachers Association, traveled to Indianapolis today for the State PTA gathering. Mrs Frank Donner plans to spend Wednesday in Indianapolis.
James Ratcliff remains critically ill with bronchial pneumonia at John McGill's home on East Washington street. The Green Castle Business Women's League regular meeting, reportedly planned for this evening, has been postponed for one week.
The League of Nations covenant proposes a world court to settle disputes by arbitration and prevent war. Senator Root helped draft the articles. the court is ready for establishment while domestic politics debate the League issue.
Putnam County Superintendent Frank Wallace announces the high school auditorium in Greencastle will host the institute on October 9. The day includes music by DePauw University’s Dean R G McCutchan, sections led by Miss Bertha Hyten and Mr. Oscar Vaughn, talks on health control, school community relations, heating and ventilation, playground equipment, and a keynote by Dr Jonathan Rigdom of Central Normal College on dangerous thinking and a final address on teachers pensions by State Superintendent L N Hines.
Mrs War Ellis and Mrs F C Til den will spend Wednesday in Indiana for a short visit, leaving from their home and returning the same day.
Hog prices opened 25 to 50 cents lower with receipts listed as 6500 hogs 800 cattle and 450 calves and 800 sheep and lambs. General sales averaged 15 60 to 16 00 with top at 16 25 over the day’s best. Heavy hogs 15 75 to 16 00 lights 15 50 to 15 75 pigs 14 50 sows 15 00. Cattle steady calves up 50 cents best veals 20. Sheep steady good lambs 10 50. Market closed strong.
Jess Kerr, son in law of Mr and Mrs Henry Snider, was arrested on evidence from the Dewey Snider and Flora Belle Snider confessions. He is charged with robbing the Nellie Hammond home on East Washington Street months ago. Kerr pleaded not guilty. bond set at 1000 pounds he could not meet.
Democratic and Republican leaders say final registration day completes the effort. Putnam County is reported to have near one hundred percent registration, with only a few individuals choosing not to register.
Cleveland wins the first World Series game 3 to 1 over Brooklyn in Brooklyn. The victory gives Cleveland an early series lead with strong pitching and timely hitting shaping the result.

Claude Bowers editor of the Pt. Wayne Gazette and former secretary to the late Senator John Kern will speak at a Democratic meeting at 7 30 this evening in the court room. A Terre Haute resident and former Congressional candidate, Bowers is described as a powerful Indiana orator.
In Putnam County Court today Matthew R. Eggers seeks appointment of guardians for his 88 year old father Squire F. Eggers. The elder denies incapacity owning a 154 acre farm and managing his affairs. A hen and chickens anecdote tests his mental faculties. Wedding news includes Russell Brown and Edith Curry to wed in Hartford City.
BF Kagey of Mattoon Illinois is in town on business for a couple of days. His company managed the promotion of the Northwood residential district which opened here this summer.
Mrs F Cleve Thomas and Mrs C Stewart have issued invitations for a bridge party to be held at Mrs Thomas home tomorrow after noon.
