The Greencastle College Avenue Methodist Church plans a pastorate move as Rev Blaine E Kirkpatrick leaves for Salem Oregon. The North Indiana Conference faces reassignments after Kirkpatrick declined other offers and Bishop Leete of Lebanon publicized new appointments.
A Ford was stolen from near North Indiana Street, belonging to a Bainbridge man named Ford. Deputy Lancaster tracked the vehicle to four miles west of town where it was abandoned at about 2 AM Sunday. The suspect, a joy rider, is identified and faces Penal Farm if convicted.
In Orland Indiana a small plane owned by 21 year old DeVon Bartholomew and carrying 20 year old Cecil Reis dove from about a mile, wings folded, and crashed 3500 feet. Investigators note the operator had refused stunts with a passenger. The wreck killed both men instantly and was witnessed by a nearby baseball crowd.

Two Indianapolis men die and a third later succumbs after their car crashed on Bluff Road near Glenn Valley while en route to the Indiana Iowa game at Bloomington. The victims are John H. Zeller 31 Harry E. Snyder 29 and Frank J. Coffey 32.
Putnam County residents must register today to vote in the November presidential election. Registration sites are open in every voting precinct until 9 p.m. for those who did not register previously.
In Lafayette Purdue defeats DePauw 10 to 0 on Stewart field. A capacity crowd of about 5,000 watched Meeker advance on a third quarter score and Stanwood convert a kick. Hanna added a late field goal as Purdue held DePauw near their own 30 yard line at the finish.
