Notorious Wolf Den Cleared by Government Hunters

Government hunters in Montana report the Wolf Den near Highwood has been cleared of wolves. Stockmen say cattle and calves now graze freely where wolves were once seen routinely. A field report to the Biological Survey of the U.S. Department of Agriculture notes a long predator patrol and no recent sightings in the area.

Prosecution Seeks Accident Theory in Italian Death

Prosecutor Fay Hamilton and Coroner Jacob McCurry conclude Indianapolis Italian Thomas George was killed by an accidental self shot while climbing a fence during a pursuit by Sheriff Sears and Deputy Hamm. They cite weapon calibers and scene description, noting bullet entry and lack of post mortem. They argue Hamm could not have fired the fatal shot.

Sacred concert pleases large audience at church

In the season opener, the Christian Church Choir directed by Prof. Ralph C. Sloane delighted a large audience. violin soloist Arthur Perry, a high school junior, offered a pleasing performance. Miss Katharine Strong of DePauw sang O God, Save Me with a fine contralto tone. Dr. Marshall spoke on The Fragments of Life as the choir plans monthly concerts.

Last Day for Tax Paying Busy Office Closes

November 7 marked the final day for tax payments as crowds swarmed the presenter’s office. Those overdue faced additional penalties. W. D. Wright of Fillmore, agent for American Insurance Co., reported a $500 draft to cover Oscar A. Day’s stolen Ford in Indianapolis. payment settled in full.
