County officials announce the formation of multiple committees to organize the Democratic Banquet to be held June 2 in the courthouse lobby. The lists include Banquet, Speakers, Invitations, Advertising, Music, Ticket, and Township committees with numerous named members.

Paris May 18 Soviet rule in France was to have been established if the May 1 revolutionary strikes had succeeded, the French police said they had obtained complete evidence of this from documents they had secured.
Indianapolis receipts show hogs 8 000 cattle 800 calves 700 and sheep 100. Hogs opened at 14 half top 14 75 for heavy weights and 15.00 for pigs. Local buyers 5 000 outsiders 2 000. Heifers cows steady to strong steers weak calves strong top 17.00 sheep steady.
The Green Castle Rotary Club holds its second luncheon at 12 15 noon at the Christian church. Deputy Revenue collector James M Carlos will be the guest of the occasion. Ladies of the Christian church will serve the luncheon.
Putnam County Democrats plan to travel to Indianapolis on Wednesday afternoon for the preliminary meeting of the Democratic State Convention set for Thursday. The funeral of Sylvester O'Hair, killed by an automobile, was held at Brick Chapel Church this afternoon. Burial followed at Brick Chapel Cemetery. The Methodist Orphanage leaves today for Des Moines to attend the General Conference. The Presbyterian church invites all members to a social at Mrs. E Bb Evans’s home, 111 W Walnut, Wednesday at 7:30.
Russell Jr. and Mrs. Otho Bales entertained at dinner Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ora Blacketer and their son from Pittsboro and Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Blacketer of Bellmore. Afternoon callers included Mr and Mrs. Floyd Bales with daughters and Howard Willard and Kenneth Clodfelter. Ora Sutherlin and wife were in Greencastle Wednesday.
In Canton city four years of effort by parents teachers and organizations culminate in renaming the old high school building for Miss Martha J Ridpath. A stone with the new name will be placed above the front door as formal exercises on Tuesday May 25 at 2 30 pm on the lawn. Friends of Miss Ridpath are urged to attend for the afternoon program. Also noted are the Aikeshead family moving to Canton Ohio and Mr Aitkenhead leaving American Zune Products. Mrs Grogan remains home ill.
DePauw University schedules two late season football meetings with Wabash. Monday's game is to be played at Ingalls Field in Greencastle while the following Tuesday the Tigers travel to Wabash for the rematch. Alumni attendance is a focus during Commencement week.
Tonight, the Chamber of Commerce hosts a planning session at 7 30 P M to outline benefits and profits of a forthcoming Greencastle trade day. Retailers are urged to attend to ensure strong attendance and outcome.
Mrs Carrié Morehart and her son Glenn visited Mrs Edith Ruark in Fillmore for a day last week. Mrs Ormia Goodwin spent a day this week with her daughter Mrs Mary Hunter.
A committee report to Governor James P. Goodrich finds the Indiana State Penal Farm well managed and governed. It states prisoners are not overworked nor cruelly treated, food is sufficient, sanitation is good, and officers suppress improper practices. The inquiry followed charges by Charles O. McNulty, a former Indianapolis saloon keeper sentenced for a blind tiger operation.
The James Beverly Lucas prize awards ten six and four dollars to top Freshman English students at May 28 commencement. Senior class president Marshall Abrams to deliver speech. Great Friday night program to be repeated due to demand. L N Hines spoke at the Greeneasent Teachers Club. Miss McMillian of DePauw will present two playlets Thursday afternoon. Architect Herbert L. Bass outlined remodeling plans for several school buildings. 1920 Annuals due by Friday.
The report from Indianapolis is that Mrs. J. O. Cammack recounted a recent nevation for aprendicitis at Methodist Hospital shows a very favorable condition. The Woman's Home Missionary Society of College Avenue Church will gather Wednesday at 2 30 PM with Mrs. Racer Bittles at her home on East Washington Street. Members are asked to bring or send their mite boxes. Miss Angie Gorovin serves as superintendent.

Mr and Mrs Finley Walker residing northeast of town are the parents of a daughter born Monday night.
