The annual meeting of the First Baptist church is set for 7 30 this evening in the church auditorium. Dr Carlos M Dinsmore of the Indiana Baptist convention will speak and lead church business of supreme importance. RST WARD BASKETBALL TEAM HONORED AT DINNER
A banquet at Mary Emma School honored the RST Ward basketball team yell leaders and song leaders after a strong season. Coaches Arthur Gross and Evan Crawley were thanked with gifts including a pearl mantling Annie and an ever sharp pencil. The team posted two wins and one loss in the tournament. Attendees included Supt Warren J Yount and families, and Mr and Mrs Oseay Obenchain.

Damage Suit Arises From Auto Crash Near Carbon
Lillie McKenzie of Brazil files in Putnam circuit court for $5,000 against Tomp Adams of Putnam county. She alleges injuries from a August 1 collision two miles north of Carbon after Adams drove at excessive speed and failed to sound horn. Her husband Charles drove the car. McKenzie suffered multiple injuries including two broken ribs and permanent shoulder and back damage. She seeks judgment and other proper relief.

Twenty four twelve year old boys and girls received Kodaks this morning from Eastman Kodak Company at Mullins Drug Store. The company is distributing twenty five thousand kodaks nationwide. Greencastle got twenty four, a number far short of local demand as children gathered at eight o'clock eager for their gifts.

Green Castle High Band Heads To State Contest
The Greencastle high school band of thirty members with Medford Maxwell and Kenneth R Umfleet will travel by charter bus to Elkhart for the state contest. Thirty bands compete Friday to Saturday night. Greencastle performs Saturday morning then returns Saturday evening. Funds come from private gifts and two downtown concerts sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.

Bids Opened for CW Davis Road Bonds
Gilbert Ogles Putnam county treasurer opened bids today for the CW Davis road bonds in Clinton township. The Fletcher Saving and Trust company of Indianapolis won with 138.37 dollars. City Security corporation of Indianapolis and Fletcher American Savings and Trust company also bid. City Security offered 173 dollars but failed to enclose a certified check as required. A third bid stood at 131 dollars.

Charges Filed After Quarrel at Dance Hall Fight
An affidavit in Putnam Circuit Court charges Duffey Hughes of Greencastle with assault and battery following a dance hall quarrel at the old Armory after 11 PM. Murray Townsend, also of Greencastle, required 15 stitches and says Hughes chased Howard Gardner who insulted Hughes's companion. Hughes was arrested and released on bond as tensions rose among Greencastle's colored community.

4-H Club Members Meet at Putnam Courthouse Library
Members of the Greencastle 4-H club met all day in the Putnam county courthouse library with County Agent Floyd Miller leading. Plans were set for attendance at the annual 4-H club round up at Purdue University in Lafayette next week. The boys will travel Tuesday with high school instructors, return Thursday, while the girls stay at Purdue through the round-up closing Saturday.

Prisoner Alerts Warden to Escape Plot in Brazil
A prisoner warned the warden of danger likely saving the warden and halting the escape of two inmates Raymond Loth aged 24 and Flyzer McCade aged 20 described as alleged Indianapolis auto bandits. The men were summoned to the state reformatory at Pendleton to serve ten years for auto theft and carried blackjacks hidden in cloths as they moved to the reform school.

Twenty five members of an alleged alcohol syndicate linked to Capone aides were indicted on more than 200 offenses and 27 overt acts. Stills operated across Chicago Cicero Milwaukee Racine and northern Indiana with ten distilleries and millions in whiskey produced since 1826. The trio of principals includes Charles Argento Joseph Almanza and Frank Barone. Bonds were set at 10 000 for Argento and 5 000 for each of the others. Officials say over 1 million dollars was deposited in eight banks using fictitious names, potentially for tax cases.
