Haag testified he did not know the liquor was in the store, and his statements were corroborated by his brother and the store manager.

Indianapolis March 16 The legislative committee of the Indiana State County Auditor's Association met at the Claypool Hotel and recommended appointing women as election board members either as judges or clerks to ensure female representation if eligible to vote. It proposed paying officials for more than one day in counties following a practice already used in some areas.
Funeral services were held in Chicago for Hoyt Newton McLan a 1294 graduate from Ravenswood Park Til He died in Winnetka on March 12 and is survived by his wife and eight children. Icy Frost Bridge spoke at the W S G A mass meeting in McHarry Hall on Beginnings of S G A with other speakers including Jane Eagles Kather ine Alvord Cassandra Love and Ruth Links. John S Lomax of the University of Texas will lecture on Negro Spiritual Songs in McHarry Hall. DePauw class sections and student body elections are planned for Pride Night on March 25. Intra mural swimming and spring football practice are being arranged as Coach Buerheit and Coach Buss prepare activities and lectures.
Practical outdoor work will begin soon. Greencastle High star guard "Tiny" Hirt, about 200 pounds, joins the team as promising material. The DePauw band gave an excellent program at McHarry Hall last night but drew a small audience.

Judge John H. Gillett, 63, former chief justice of Indiana's Supreme Court, hanged himself at his Hammond home. The body was found by his son Gerald. his wife died a year earlier and friends say he had been despondent.
At 3 this afternoon school dismissed for Barr evangelistic lectures in the high school auditorium and tabernacle. Boys heard Mr Huffman and Mr Daugherty, girls heard Mrs Barr. An inter class basketball tournament may be held next week with juniors favored for the dope. The eight regular players will be barred, Coach Smith plans track work and several boys to enter the county meet in Greencastle late April. Skinny Pitman will provide free shaves for the team in Indianapolis. The team anticipates a trip funded by the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce led by C C Gillen who will arrange in Indianapolis.
The Putnam County Bar Association will meet Thursday at 9 o clock to arrange attendance at the funeral of Jackson Boyd. The Needle Craft Club will meet with Mrs. Talman Thursday afternoon.
Judge James P. Hughes and Emerson Z. Ballard of Crawf ordsville will make brief remarks as PSL Fraternity handles services at the grave.
The Putnam county lawyer and author Jackson Boyd died of heart disease at his East Seminary street home. The Thursday service at 2 PM will be held there with remarks by Judge James P. Hughes and Emerson Ballard. Psi Mu Phi members conduct graveside rites. De Pauw University soloists perform. Surviving family includes a cousin Fred Albin of Brazil.
Miss Lou Pollard and Miss Pawsine Pollard spent the day in Indianapolis to attend the evening Folly performance at the English theater. Mr and Mrs George Christie are in town to see the Folies at the Murat theater. Morton Rissler of Washington township and Joe Herbert of Cloverdale were in the city on business. St Patrick days gaiety appeared downtown, while Mrs J C Nicholson and Benjamin Pace faced illness at home. The DePauw audience enjoyed Keech and Dardanella at McHarry Hall. Prof W M Hess of DePauw traveled to Indianapolis for a medical consultation. Benjamin Brown of Coatesville visited on business.
