Storm Causes Damage in Putnam County Greencastle

A high wind and heavy rain Tuesday afternoon caused damage across Putnam County. In Greencastle the impact was mainly broken limbs and tangled wires with no injuries reported. Outlying areas saw uprooted trees and wider disruption as rain continued and creeks rose to flood levels. Rain measured at .49 inches with a high of 85 degrees and high humidity.

To celebrate Rev and Mrs Harlan Page Cory at 2889 San Pasqual Street Pasadena California they mark their 50th wedding anniversary on June 27. Terre Haute Mail Robbers Are Sentenced

Calvin Holmes 22 and Carl Jennings 34 of Terre Haute pled guilty to a March Union Station mail room robbery. Both received 25 years in Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary. Judge Baltzell indicated the case may not be finished and cited threats to mail attendants. Doc Spurgeon’s status was also noted for possibleFederal action.

Fourth Booster Contest by Merchants in July

Greencastle Chamber of Commerce merchants hold a fourth Booster contest for July. The June contest ends June 30 with strong ticket sales. July prizes mirror June awards. Contest runs from noon June 30 to Saturday July 28. A guardian petition was filed in Putnam Circuit Court for John A. O'Mullane of Cloverdale. John A. Miller represents the petitioner. The guardian is sought for an elderly, infirm individual unable to manage affairs.
